Please accept this as your personal invitation to join us at the Miracles In Progress 12 Step Recovery Forums Step Work Board and share with us, your own experience, strength and hope. If you are new to recovery, you can ask questions related to the 12 Steps here, see how others work and apply the steps in their lives, etc.
General protocol for the Step Work board is simple; Every two weeks we review one of the 12 steps. We do this in the order the Steps were written. Each 12 step group on the MIP forum should have a group representative give a basic outline of the current step we are working on, from that 12 Step organizations perspective. Then everyone else shims in, and shares their experience, strength and hope related to the step, under the outline given by the group they align themselves with.
Newcomers are especially welcome to participate on this board. It serves as a excellent way to get familar with the steps, how they are worked, what benefits people gain from working them, and a great resource of insight from many should you have any questions about the steps.
It is important for us to remember that the meetings are our fellowship, but the 12 Steps is our program of recovery. Both provide us with the opportunity to give and get support to eachother.
A generalized theme of sharing is: What it use to be like, what happened, and what its like now.
Please join us on the Step Work Board, your support, experience, strenght and hope is valuable to us here at Miracles In Progress.
This board requires its own registration, your registration on your group board does not transfer over to any other board on the site, so be sure you register on the Step Work Board in order to post or reply to post.
Thanks!
John

I have tried to register on the step forums, but it won't accept my username and password, nor will it allow me to retrieve this info, just keeps coming up as wrong details.

YAY, I finally worked out how to register for the 12 step forum. There are quite a few newbies needing help and support over there, if anyone else cares to point them in the right direction and welcome them.
I have suggested they post on this message board, since this is where the action usually is, so have posted a link for them to here, so hopefully they will find their way over here, if they're still around the place.
I love this site, is there any history about it anywhere? Like how long's it been here and who started it. I have joined quite a few similar sites, but got sick of the catfighting at times, sometimes these boards are used as an excuse to take potshots at other members which is not very good for the newcomers, but this site feels comfortable to me, and I like that, I'm too old and long in the tooth for jumping into arguments. YES, as much as I like to think I am 'sober enough' to not let it get to me, I do all too often get tempted to respond with a few choice words of my own, then I log off feeling worse than when I logged on.
SO, whoever's brainchild this site is, Good onya, great job, keep on keeping on. And thanx to BikerBill for telling me about it.

Avril John started and maintians Miracles in Progress along with his recovery homes in Wilmington, NC. I believe the board started in '04. You can search the board pages back to the very beginning at the bottom of the page by hitting the "last" button.
I'm not sure how to access the board. I just signed up for this nboard minutes ago & thought my nic & password would work on all the boards. Very nice board you seem to have here. thx

This is my first time on an AA website...first time on any chat site!!! No, I'm not 110 years old, just 60...but had an aversion to such sites for a long time - til I discovered this one with AA as the heading. I celebrated 5 years sober in February, but still consider myself very much the "newbie" - I'm hoping very much this enhances the AA program and fellowship and doesn't detract from it or act as a substitute for the "live" action!!!
I've been unable to sign on to the step board...which I'm most interested in. Got signed on fine to the site...just not this one, as I noticed others have had a similar problem with. Anybody got any tips??
Thx, Mag

Enjoyed your sharing...would have been even more helpful to me if you had shared how you overcame the problem with logging on!!! I'm having the same problem and sounds like others are as well...can we help each other out?
thx,

If you registered on the Step Work Board on or before 10/4/10 your account on the board has been confirmed and validated, so all you need to do to interact on the Step Work Board is log into it using the user name and password you choose when you registered on it. Registration on this group board doesn't carry over to the Step Work Board, you have to register on it independently to interact on it as well.
The Step Work Board is for the purpose of letting each 12 step group post a share and replies to it every two weeks on a specific step and this way members of other groups can see how the steps are being applied in the lives of others. This gives us an opportunity to see how effective the 12 steps are regardless of the application they are used for.
This board also gives the newcomer a place to ask related step questions, and oldtimers a place to share their own experience, strength and hope related to the step being shared.
I would like each MIP 12 step group to elect a group member to lead their group on the Step Work Board starting 10/15/2010, starting with Step One and moving to the next step (2), every two weeks. A group member can volunteer for this position as well. Then encourage other members of their groups general message board to share on their Step Work Board post. So, for each step, each group has its own post and replies to it, separate from the other groups, yet unified in the step that is being addressed every two weeks.
The Step Work Board is for the purpose of enhancing everyone's understanding of the 12 steps and how they are worked and applied in our daily lives. It is not a general discussion board. Each groups individual message board should be used for general discussion issues and subjects.
I will attempt to obtain a person from each group to lead their group on the Step Work Board over the next week. Your willingness to support and respond to your group leaders post on the Step Work Board would be appreicated.
PS. Your registration on your groups message board does not automatically register you on the step work board or visversa. Each board requires you register on it independently. So, if you want to interact on both the step work board and your groups general discussion board, you have to get registered on both.
