Hello. I am new and looking for inspiration and motivation

Hello everyone, This is my first time visiting. I felt I needed to look online for support since I have not been able to control my desire for a drink. I find myself enjoying being awake more with a drink. Weekdays, I can't wait until I get home from work. Weekends - cant wait for noon for a reason. Now, I don't drink so much that I black out. Nor docu drink south that I can't remember what happens. But - regardless, I hate that I am doing this. I do this basically every day. When I find the strength to not drink, I feel good. I wake up feeling much more refreshed and I am proud that I didn't have a drink. But the next day, I quickly end up going back to the routine. I wanted to start the new year right and only one day have I not had a drink. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I'm looking for someone who I can email daily and provide/ receive inspiration. If there is someone out there, I would like to connect. I am a 29 yr old married male, working full time and just started a new job. I want to be able to not feel the need for a drink.

Hi Cohioc,

Welcome to the MIP board. There is messages here everyday and this site can be helpful in recovery.

Most of us here found recovery via the fellowship and program of AA.

What part of Ohio are you from? Do you think you are an alcoholic?

Welcome Cohioc. The sooner you can get to an AA meeting the better. There are avenues for support everywhere you can think of, online, in the flesh, and cell phone. When you feel the urge to drink use one of those methods of intervention. They have meetings at noon in just about every city now, and that would probably be a good place to start. You don't want to start drinking on your new job and lose it.

AA is the place to be! Read lots of stories on here... come back when you feel the urge to drink, and eat as healthfully as you can to reduce cravings. I quit eating anything with sugar, cut out junk carbs, and that has helped tremendously with my mood swings, which made me feel like I needed a glass of wine (or ten) to "cheer up and get motivated to live". I also started exercising, and even if I just do 5 minutes of light weight lifting while watching the news, I feel so much better. If your marriage sucks, you guys should read "when mars and venus collide". That will help you understand each other better. Even if it doesn't, you will be better off knowing more about how you operate, and how she operates. I mean hey, we all want to get along...

Come back!
Tasha

Haha, I just re -read my post, and that sounded really bossy, and not super inspirational... sorry!!!! I look at this in a holistic way. Getting better is a whole body/mind experience for me personally. What works for me, might not work for you, but maybe it will! I feel terrific since I found this message board and aa. It allowed me to be able to do these other things to get all around healthy. I think if you click on my name, you can see more of my story... I'm new here too, and figuring things out with ya!
Take care
