The Eye Opener Daily Reading

December 28

It is very often easier to identify an alcoholic by his hang-over than by his drinking pattern. Alcoholics, for the most part, resemble the non-alcoholics when they have a load aboard, but in the morning, when the sweats and the shakes set in, then the alcoholic can be identified by the degree of his suffering. The alcoholic's hang-over cannot be gotten rid of by 10:30 simply with aspirin or Bromos.

How true. Non alky's think our problem is a lack of will power, hell, most alkys think that. We got more will power than they know. If they had to get on with there day with the hangovers, emotional and spiritual suffering we go through when we drink, they all would be down at the quick care looking to see the DR.

I heard the alcoholic was easyer to spot when they werent drinking. They are the people everyone esle walks on eggshells around.

Christmas Day my father in law was hanging.  Too many Capt and Cokes the night before.  He arrived at noon looking like he wanted to crawl into a hole where no one would bother him.  He spent most of the day looking down at the counter or the floor.  He had very little to say.  He very talkative with a few drinks though....
Sound familiar.  biggrin

How many times I felt that way.......  The good thing today is it's not me- Thank you God.  I was grateful for another day of sobriety.  I also didn't walk on eggshells- no need to, it's his problem, not mine.  Plus, he was in my house.  biggrin
