I have been reading page 86 which gives a detail of when to do what, but I dont know if my prayers are working or not, it comforts me, but i dont know if big g hears me or not? am i being selfish and asking for the wrong things?
"am i being selfish and asking for the wrong things?"
ummm.....are you praying for a beautiful blonde and a fancy corvette?? hmmm......likely.:)
Step 11 in the 12 and 12 book, has quite a bit of ....food for thought in it... Robert..
The 11th step prayer is pasted below...
Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace. Where there is hatred, let me Love, Where there is injury, let me Pardon, Where there is doubt, let me have Faith, Where there is despair, let me bring Hope, Where there is ignorance, let me shed Light, Where there is sorrow, let me provide Joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as To console others, Not so much to be understood as To understand others, Not so much to be loved as To Love others. For it is in Giving that we Receive, It is in Forgiving that we are Forgiven, And it is Letting go that we are Born Anew. AMEN

Here's a prayer, Robert, that like Phil's, has a beauty to it that seems to cover everything. I love the original, but often change words around so that it applies to my situation. I like to send my prayers up with incense. Wren
Let Me Walk In Beauty Native American Prayer
Oh, Great Spirit
Whose voice I hear in the winds and whose breath gives life to all the world.
Hear me.
I am a man before you, one of your many children - I am small and weak. I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made, my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise, so that I may know the things you have taught my people - the lesson you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers, but to be able to fight my greatest enemy - myself. Make me ever ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes, so when life fades as a fading sunset my spirit may come to you without shame.
- Native American Prayer Translated by Chief Yellow Lark in 1887 Native American Missionary and Medicine Man Lakota Tribe

basically asking that i be aligned with the great spirit or the source of all things good.....to enable me and strengthen me to be positive and loving and healing to ALL creatures, even me.........
becuz i really don't know what really IS best for me, i just ask to be in alignment with the master plan of my life...thats basically it......i only ask for the good that is mine by divine right... (prevents me from taking from another that which is his/hers, etc)
just REAL simple.....OH and the serenity prayer is another one i like cuz it is so basic............we human beings have a tendency to, if the iron goes cold, take teh thing apart instead of just looking to see if the plug is out of the outlet............ttyl, rosie
