My name is Bernie. Haven't been here in a while. I was distracted. I was at a virtual meeting in Hawaii last night. I found that group while Covid was at it's peak and I still go there from time to time. Last night was a 12 and 12 meeting and they had asked me to do the final reading and to close with a prayer of my choice. I chose the third step prayer. This morning, I reembered this place and so I logged on and at the main page I saw the third step prayer. That's just a coincidnce right. It couldn't possibly be my higher power showing up at just the right time with just the right information to let me know he's still here with me.

I retired last may. For good this time, I hope. I tried it once when I was 65 but I let them talk me into going back. I had been working in a transition house for men in recovery, so the chance is always there that I might be able to help a still suffering alcoholic. And maybe I did help one or two. But, I'm 67 now and the stairs are too much for my diabetic legs so I packed it in again.

I didn't want to get too bored so I let my name stand for DCM for my district and trust me I ain't bored now. I've heard it said that coincidence is how God protects his anonymity, or her anonymity depending on your point of view. Nice to be back and hope to chat again with some of my old friends and to make new ones.
