Saving my marriage after telling wife I’m an alcoholic

Any good threads on this message board that covers the issue of saving your marriage after you admit to your wife that youve got an alcohol problem? I was hoping shed be proud of me for wanting to get well, but the only thing she can think about is how long I kept this problem a secret from her (I was pretty high functioning and was able to hide it).

Havent gotten very deep into the book yet. Let me know if this topic is covered in the book.

Sober for over 3 days now. Going to aa meetings everyday so far.

3 days is great. Good work, WV.

Remember, it's just the beginning of your recovery. You've laid a big change on your wife and it's not unusual for her to have a reaction to it. It'll take time for her to adjust. You can help her primarily by continuing to focus on your sobriety.

Maybe Al-anon for her can help in the adjustment stage. Here is a thread about spouses:

aa.activeboard.com/t39173780/spouse-does-not-understand/

Hope it helps. The main thing is: Don't drink....and go to meetings. And continue to share here.

We are rooting for you...

Hey WV, ... Congrats on 3 days sober ... Wish I could tell you it gets easier, and it will, but you got some big challenges ahead of you in the short term ... just keep do'n what you're do'n and allow time for your spouse to adjust ...

'Total Honesty' is a biitch at first, but then we see it's the best way to go, unless certain issues can hurt others if brought to light ... take it easy ... and ask your sponsor for guidance ...

'Relationship problems' are covered in the BB, so keep reading ... Pickle made some excellent suggestions ... Al-Anon is great for our spouses and teen children, I highly recommend it ...

Don't drink, it only makes bad situations worse, never better ...

Love ya man and God Bless,
Pappy
