This passed summer my wife purchased a new beer product that looked strikingly like flavored sparkling water. A failure of communication and failure to read labels and I took a big hit of 5.1% alcohol unknowingly. Once she grabbed the bottle out of my hand and the bitter but familiar bite of booze on my throat went down I realized what just happened. There was no panic I said shit...and went about our business. It was not a relapse.
So I think intent means a world of difference in this subject.
Thanks Pickle, ... I've proved just how true that statement is in my early years ...
and Vision, I don't view your experience as a relapse either, unless it was followed by the insanity of go'n back for more til you couldn't walk straight ... ... ...

Certainly intent (and amount) must be relevant factors in deciding what such events truly are.
I had a woman offer me a drink from a styrofoam cup once, This was in a university computer lab at around noon. Since I wanted to be cool with her, I took a sip without asking the obvious. THEN I asked her what it was and she replied, "champagne."
I spit out what I could immediately. It was disgusting.
I never made that mistake again. I don't drink anything, anywhere, with anybody...unless I KNOW what it is.
Its too easy done until you gain the strength to check every time.
There was i some months sober on the train to london. In 1st class. Master cutler. Just time for a lazy cooked breakfast.
I thought the oj tasted funny. I complained to the steward who explained it was bucks fizz (oj and champagne). I was devastated.
Spike to my sponsor....he said did you finish it? Hell no it tasted awful. Dont worry, it was a mistake. Go about your day
6.30 that evening, still 2 hours to go before dinner, theres 50 odd of us and the drinks tray comes round. Tall glasses with what looked like cranberry juice. Whats this...its a tom collins....whats a tom collins....its a cocktail.....does it have alcohol in it.....of course....not for me thanks.
Always check. Always ask.
