Partner is struggling due to alcoholism.

It's really hard to say that my partner is struggling due to alcoholism.

My boyfriend is addicted to alcohol. He thinks that he needs it to get through the day. He doesn't drink when I'm around him. He uses it to start his day, to get through the lunch and before going for sleep. I have come to the realization that due to my own severe depression, the situation has become intolerable. Is there anything that I can do to help him? His attitude towards everyone is changing day by day. He isn't the same person. Will any quality rehab centre in Canada (http://edgewoodhealthnetwork.com/ ) help in this case? Is there anyone who has answer on this?

Please share. I need your advice/suggestions.

Welcome Sheena, ...

Unfortunately, this scenario is repeated many times over, daily, worldwide ... ... ... your boyfriend needs to realize life is passing him by ... and when he has a 'coherent' moment, he needs to consider if he wants to stop the madness or not ... IF he decides he 'wants' help, that's a good first step ... if he doesn't, there's very little hope for him ...

If he wants help, then seek your local Al-Anon groups to help you with finding the appropriate facility for him ... If he's open to local AA meetings, then help him find them and get to them ... AND there is an Al-Anon group here you can become a member of and consult with ...

Love ya and wish you the very best,
God Bless,
Pappy

Welcome to this forum, Sheena. I echo what Pappy said about how Al-Anon can be VERY helpful to you.

You can go register at http://alanon.activeboard.com

and post your question there. Lots of folks will share who have been through your experiences.

They also have online chat meetings every day at 9AM and 9PM.

AL-Anon can help you.

Good luck.
