Living life on life's terms
Permalink

As a child I had to accept life and live life on life's terms. I had no power to act to change anything. I had to accept whatever came down the pike and just suffer through it.

As I got older and found cigarettes, beer, liquor and other drugs....I started living life on MY terms. I CHOSE drugs, sex and anything else I could to escape life.  That's how I lived life on MY terms.  That seemed to work (never did really) until  LIFE got so bad that I became homeless and had to find another way OR die.  I am now trying to live life according to the TERMS of the 12 steps.  Most agree that the 12 steps are "inspired by God" so IF we are living life according to the steps, why do we keep referring to living life on life's terms?

ACCORDING TO THE STEPS,  LIVING THE 12 STEPS IS LIVING LIFE ON GOD'S TERMS....it seems that I now have discovered a  better way of "acting" rather than just being "acted upon" by life.

I agree Mike...if you read the attached pdf.....that was how I lived life...on MY terms. Thank goodness I don't live that way all of the time now

PAPPY,

I wish I could say those were my words. Every time  I have read it (there always seems to be room for improvement when I write) I am simply amazed at how the story came out. It's perfect just the way it is.

It's part of my story, but it's how God wants it written.

Thank you for your kindness.
