In an hour and a half I will again enter court, called there because I don't conform to local law. Local law is not Hawaiian Law...it is considered state law and state law is u.s. law. I have no need to be offensive to anyone and ask HP to remind me of that when the anger rises. Hawaii is not a state and has never been annexed by treaty so there are many of us natives and nationals who adhere to national laws in spite of the pressure continuously put on us by the u.s.
Stinking Thinking? My disease often does this though I don't react with it...What if I go into court under the influence wouldn't that give them reason to get their duffs further in a ruffle? It's another thought that always shows up...I can handle this better with booze.
I can't...no one can so I won't. Gotta take HP and the program and my MIP fellowship. I'll report back.
I had a couple of run-ins with the law myself. One in particular stands out like a sore thumb.
One of our local magistrates -whom I won't mention- suddenly grew tired of me showing up in his courtroom for the same alcohol related offense. So he thought it would be a good idea to point out the obvious, my drinking problem. I don't remember the exact words he used, but I do remember his reaction after my repeated remarks.
He said: "Mr. David, you're being charged, again, with another alcohol related offense, what do you have to say for yourself"? I didn't respond for fear he might continue. "Do you know what I think"? I thought to myself "do you really want to know". He continued: "I do believe you have a drinking problem". My initial reaction: "Now why would you say something like that"? His reply: "Because you're here, again, in my courtroom for a similar alcohol related offense, don't you see the connection"?
After embarrassing me numerous times I decided to respond the only way I knew how. I said, "it's not my fault that you cannot get elected to a higher office". After the courtroom settled down from all the laughter, the judge gave me 30 days in jail, a $1000.00 fine and 5 years probation. Of course, I wasn't done yet. Before I could deal the final blow, my Lawyer cut me off mid-steam just as a precautionary measure. After that incident, I attended my first A.A. meeting while in prison. It was the best decision I ever made.
Jerry, I hope everything works out. Prayers coming your way.

Mr. D...how very imaginative we are though the courts refuse to bless that skill. You got me laughing and I need that after court this am. After my first admission that I am not American and would not approach beyond the railing it was over with her. She started in with the math adding dollars and cents to fines already written and days of incarceration and such. I won't drink over it and am already getting feedback from the culture on previous court decisions which should set me clear. I didn't even miss the memories of drinking. Glad I came here first. Glad you made the meeting and then came here.
