I found the cure.

I can now drink at abandon.

If you want to know the cure please let me know :)

***UPDATE***

I regret to announce that my cure proved to be unsuccessful.

Please continue with your AA program.

In the immortal words of The Irish Rovers...

"My head is like a football. I think I'm gonna die. Oh me. Oh me. Oh my." :(

Nope, thanks though Tipster, ... I found my cure in the rooms of AA ...

If you have not had enough Madness and Mayhem in your life then Sure; Go drink some more...
I've had more than my fair share so I'm cured... I quit drinking. :)

I am not cured of alcoholism. The Big Book says I never will be.

I have two other conditions from which I am not cured, arthritis which almost made it impossible to walk, and hayfever. Both have been arrested, I recovered from both in the sense that I no longer suffer any symptoms at the moment, and haven't for quite a while.

However they will both come back sometime, that is a certainty.

My alcoholism was arrested, I recovered from the symptoms and no longer suffer. Like the other illnesses I am not cured but unlike them it is not a certainty that it will come back. If I keep to a few simple rules, rules which actually make life a rewarding experience, the chances are I will stay sober for good, just like my sponsor and his sponsor and his sponsor did. Tanin's "Drink More" advertisment reminded me of an brochure about what AA does and does not do. One of the things it doesn't do is furnish motivation to quit. My experience was that the motivation to quit came from drinking more - John Barleycorn became our best advocate.

I tried to fool myself into thinking that the word "alcoholic" and the "disease of alcoholism" were incorrect/outdated. For me to believe those things is for me to think it is alright for me to drink again. For me to drink again--well, dig a whole for me, because I'm going to die.
