I haven't done enough meditating...tried it for awhile and just stopped. I have been hearing in AA and elsewhere how meditation has helped others. I am going to try it again.

I also found this mantra I love....

"Every day in every way I'm getting better and better."

It is by Emile Coue (1857-1926)

(I hope this helps someone today, and if it doesn't I don't want to hear about it...LOL)

That was one of the reasons I suggested the park trips ... excellent place to do just that ... still need to find as secluded a spot as you can ... view nature and the wonders of what God has blessed us with ...

Great postings. Yep, Pappy...you were one of the ones who really shared with me the importance of it. Gotta get to the park...it is a good distance from me...good walk and exercise. I need to do it. My luck lately a bird will probably take a crap in my hair, but if I feel that "peace and tranquility" you guys are talking about, I can deal with the crap....I am kinda used to it by now...LOL.

Bluesman...LOLOLOL...Did you think my little fella is holding a cookie, like Pappy did? It is a plaque of The Serenity Prayer. Gotta get another picture. Or....I can let it stick around until Easter and maybe you guys will think it looks like he is holding a large chocolate Easter egg. LOL

Last night I signed up for this meditation thing....there is a 5 minute video by Deepak Chopra. His advice for people starting to meditate is "Take the time to do it". Imagine that!

He said..."Cultivating the discipline and dedication to sit down for quiet contemplation every day is the hardest part for most people, but its also the most essential step."

I will be by myself later today and I am going to watch the video and start. I did try it in the past. Usually after I would pray in the morning. I didn't feel as much from it as I thought I would, though. It may be because I was smoking while I was doing it and taking sips of coffee here and there (cigs, you guys, not dope) so it may not have "took". I was trying to make the experience more appealing I guess. Okay, I came clean.... let me have it Pappy.

There's a ton written about 'meditation' ... for me, it was/is essential to find a place to be alone in a 'quiet' place, free of distraction ... and that can be a challenge ... and when distractions are hard to get away from, I try to simply tune everything else out except what I see in 'nature' around me ... once that is done, I simply relax and take it all in ... 'Let Go' and be a free float'n spirit with the beauty around me, or you ... and no thoughts of anything other than the air your breathing ... and the fact you have life and are a special being among all that God has created ...

That's a start!

Thanks Pappy....appreciate you sharing that again with me....I would have had to go through all the emails from you to find where you told me about how to do it a good while back.
