If at all possible, have your Big Book, 12 & 12 and/or a copy of Grapevine at work, and haul it out on your break to read.  There are also online meetings which are convenient when you cannot physically get to a church, clubhouse, etc. where a meeting is being held.  Talk to your sponsor or another recovering alcoholic daily, even if just for a few minutes.

Carry your white chip (or most recent chip) with you and when you feel squirrely, close your hand around it and picture all the people from your meetings who care about you and want you to be well.  Stay connected in any way you can!

Fenners,
I am so glad you posted! I have been wondering how you are doing. 62 sober days is great! The above poster gave some really good advice. Besides that I would add to start or continue to pray everyday to your Higher Power if you are not already doing so. I pray and thank Him for keeping me sober the day before and to please keep me sober this day.

I also came to this board everyday early in my sobriety. I didn't always post, however, most days I think I did. You can help other alcoholics who have less time than you (and you are also helping people with more time as well :) Just having this connection to other alcoholics kept me sober for a good while. I was able to attend meetings everyday; however, I still came here for extra support.

I am so happy to hear you are alright and still staying sober.

If I was to prioritise the AA program based on my experience I would say:

The most important thing is to adopt the AA way of life by living the steps
The second most important thing is working with others and carrying the message
The third most important thing is attend meetings reasonably regularly to help with the first two things.
The fourth most important thing is, well, life. The reasons the other things are more important than life is that there will be no life without sobriety.

There are some good suggestions above that might (emphasize might) help you stay sober through a temporary busy spell. But I might suggest you take a look at your priorities. If you place business ahead of sobriety, they will all say what a good worker he was, at your funeral.

Oh wow Mike(FyneSpirit) ... you always find the most appropriate things to share here ... love you man and God Bless ...

Living the AA "way of 'life'" IS number one on my priority list Fenners ... I don't allow anything to take that away from me ... and by the grace of God, I'm sober today ... and 'Lord willing', I shall go to bed sober tonight ...

I found lots and lots of time to drink every single day, the first 2 years of my sobriety I found the time to get to a meeting every single day.

Hi All,

Thankyou so much for all your advice good as always. I have stayed away from here for to long. Finally going to a meeting tonight in an hour and I really do need it been really anxious angry and all those horrible feelings I have. It has been building and building time to put it back in to perspective and practise the things that have served me so well up to now. 72 days and still sober so going to enjoy the feeling that going to a meeting brings glad to be back

So glad you posted, Fenners! Congratulations on reaching 72 days! Since you are experiencing "really anxious angry" feelings it is good you went to a meeting. When I feel those kinds of emotions and let them go on for any length of time it is a wake up call to me that I need to make a change...praying to God helps me. Pappy posted some great prayers not long ago which help calm me down and center me so I don't let those negative emotions swallow me whole and possibly want to drink again. I cannot afford to guard myself from myself.
