I'm going to be a father

I found out with two days sober, on June 7. Haven't shared it here for whatever reason. We're both out here in LA but we're driving across the country in 10 days to move closer to her family in Pennsylvania. I still can't wrap my head around it. Me? A father? What?

Congrats!  I don't have kids, but I have six nieces and nephews from three sisters, and I must say I'm an awesome uncle.

I got sober before they were all born, and the older ones are in college now.

Those wonderful kids have never had to see me drunk.

And that feels great.

One day at a time, your kids never have to know what it's like to have a drunk dad.

Congrats, Dodsworth.
You can be a great father. Especially, if you are sober. Best of luck.

Somebody asked me once: Baba, how come you don't like kids?? " I sez..."I like kids...I don't like parents".

Congrats, Dods. I'm happy for you. (for staying sober. I hope the kid doesn't drive you to drink. Like I did to my parents).

haha.

Congrats Adam, ... there's noth'n in this world like watching the birth of your child .... seeing the 'miracle of life' right before your eyes changes a person, or it did me at least, so enjoy the ride ... I'm thrilled to death for you ...

Please keep us up to date with the progress ... I'm guessing you'll have an interesting Christmas or a Happy New Year ... I'll keep you, mom, and the baby in my prayers ... (sober Dads are the BEST!!!) ...

Love ya man and God Bless,
Pappy

Congratulations Adam,

Parenthood can be the most wonderful privilage, I wouldn't have missed it for the world, and like you, I was sober. Not sure about the child birth thing though, hardly a spectator sport!

LOL Mike, ... yeah, hardly a spectator sport for sure ... the hardest part for me was the amount of 'PAIN' my wife endured during the whole process ... Oh, and I did have to leave the room a couple times to keep from 'passing out' ... LOL ... Ahhhh, those were the days ... then you turn around and you're a grandpa ... go fig'r ...

Congratulations! I had ring-side seats for each of my three son's births. The doctor and I arranged for me to be the first to hold our youngest and it was breath-taking to hold that squirming wet new life as the doctor trimmed the umbilical cord.

Hey Dods, ...

You have no idea, LOL ... you'll need some friends to hold onto from time to time, please chose wisely ... alcohol nearly destroyed the family I had a part in creating, I pray you don't want to go through what I did to get and stay sober ... It can be a beautiful life if we put sobriety first, above all else ...

Tell your wife we're thinking of her and praying for the best for all of you ...

Love you guys and God Bless,
Pappy

P.S.   Patience, you're going to need a LOT of it ... not just with the changes your little woman is go'n through right now, but with the kid ... and with the right 'attitude' you can experience 'Heaven on Earth' ...
