First off. Thank you Tasha for stepping up and volunteering to lead a meeting on Tues. Second off, do we want to really make a concerted effort to get online meetings up and running again? We are getting and influx of newcomers on the board so now would be a good time. Any other volunteers to lead on line meetings? What do you guys think?

Ummmmmm... nope - this is Eastern time, meaning it's 8pm my time and that is a busy time for me getting kids to bed. At nine they're asleep. Can't count on hubby to be consistently home at this time either.

There haven't been online meetings here at MIP in a lonnng time. What, 1 to 2 years? And it was very spotty before then.
People come here looking for a meeting and we don't have one for them, even though the home page says there are 3 online meetings a week.
If we're not going to hold online meetings anymore, maybe we should take down the meeting schedule so as not to confuse people. Truth in advertising, no?
I would most surely like us to have a couple of online meetings each week. However, each time I have attempted to hold them, I end up sitting in the room by myself, because board members have not been supportive of them for the most part.
I would suggest that if we do hold them we bring consistency to them, by holding them on a truly scheduled basis, that the meeting format is in line with f2f meetings, and chairpersons be consistent in honoring their commitment to service.
I have spent the time setting up meetings to be held by a chairperson, with only a few clicks of their mouse to do the reading scripts, that also provide group related information. It does require that the chairperson use mIRC IRC client (download and set it up) and download the scripts to be used. The MIP Al-Anon group uses them and their meetings are run very smooth. Whoever is interested might want to read the OP Responsibility ) page that was put together for them, and the mIRC set up instructions. They can be seen at www.12stepforums.net/mirc.html and www.12stepforums.net/or.html
This would just give us a format and method that has worked successfully for them, for years now with two meetings a day, and if we wanted to use it we could modify things to meet our group needs.
I would step up to hold one scheduled meeting a week, if and when I see the board members become willing to support them, by chairing and/or attending them.
About a year and a half ago we had some well attended online meetings here for a month or so if I remember correctly. I thought they were great. What times are we looking at holding meetings (and in what time zone)?
Hello all. I chaired meetings online for a while and in the beginning the attendance was great but after a while, like John, I ended up sitting alone waiting for people to join me and no one showed up.

Perhaps the schedule of meetings at the top of the forum web page should be removed. It now states that we hold AA meetings on Tuesday and Saturday nites and on Saturday morning. But we do not actually hold those scheduled meetings and have not done so in a year or two.
Or maybe the advertised meeting schedule could be notated "Pending."
The way it is now is probably confusing to our influx of newcomers.

After doing a bit of digging, this seems to be a recurring problem, John. Here is an old example going back a long ways:

I see at the top of this page that there's supposed to be a meeting tonight online. It seems everytime I try it, the room is empty.
Will there be one tonight?

It's at http://aa.activeboard.com/t8594430/online-meetings/
and all I did was a search on "Online Meetings" and found This and other examples.
