Hey man, i went to the friday night with friends meetting out in Mission. Man those guys welcomed me greatly and even got me a sponsor, bill. i told bill everythng i told you folks. not like you guys he did not blink, had the same deals as me. hes has me reading the book, doing it right now. hes doin good, sober for a lot of years. im drying out now, its been 4 or 5 days or so. ive talked to Bill everyday. he said it was good i keep coming here to, cause he cant be there all the time. Carol here at the library is a big help, gettin me on the computer like she does. she even helped me find this place. she think sit is a good thing for me too! bill is having me to his place to eat tonight with his wife. he says they have been having some problems, but he htinks if she sees the good hes doing. he says he spends a lto of times at meetings. and she is mad he is gone working a lot and then at meetings and isnt around. she thinks he has been sover for so long it is time to stay at home more. he kinda thinks she thinks he is drinking again. i am trying hard to not drink. i have been in a lot of pain since i quit this time. i dont know what it is i still got that taste. bill said the goal of a sober drunk is to have a bar filled with bottles that arent opened. i will let you all know how it goes.

Good job Texasaurus, ... ... ... this is just the beginning ... your physical pains will slowly disappear and you'll feel like a new man ... just don't drink today ... and I ain't too sure about a goal of having a bar filled with unopened bottles ... if it don't need to be there, why have it ??? ... I was told not to tempt fate ... I can walk past the stuff without giving it even a 2nd thought today, but I still wouldn't desire to put the stuff in the house ... after all, I AM a drunk ... ... ...

This has probably got something to do with it.

The fact is that most alcoholics, for reasons yet obscure, have lost the power of choice in drink. Our so-called will power becomes practically nonexistent. We are unable, at certain times, to bring into our consciousness with sufficient force the memory of the suffering and humiliation of even a week or a month ago. We are without defense against the first drink.

The almost certain consequences that follow taking even a glass of beer do not crowd into the mind to deter us. If these thoughts occur, they are hazy and readily supplanted with the old threadbare idea that this time we shall handle ourselves like other people. There is a complete failure of the kind of defense that keeps one from putting his hand on a hot stove.

There is a solution....Getting a sponsor and working those steps is it. Give it everything you got.
