What a great post! I would love to be like a cat for these reasons as well....
1. I would love to be as independent as a cat. Cats can be left alone with a bowl of food and water for several days and be fine. (I remember, however, years ago when my family went on a vacation and left "Freddie", our cat, alone and the day we returned he walked up to Mom and bit her on the leg. I am not sure if he was so glad to see her he was being overly zealous in his display of affection or if he was letting her know he was po'd for leaving.
2. Cats groom themselves and strut around afterward without having to check themselves in a mirror several times to make sure every hair is in place, which, unfortunately, I have always done and still do too much. Probably more because of insecurity issues which I guess is a character defect....hmmmmm...just thought of that and need to pray for its removal.
3. Cats are not afraid of mice--I am terrified of them. My daughter surprised us by bringing home a "pet" rat,( which turned into two pet rats in no time, as she had to have a friend for her first one). I first became aware of her first rat when I was sitting in the living room and she came up behind me and thrust the thing in my face. The scream I let out was a piercing one, I am sure. This thing was the size of a small cat! She tried to get me to hold it which I refused. Then one day we went to the pet store and she pulled the rat out from her top while we were on our way there. I freaked out and I am sure I wasn't the best driver when this happened. When I pulled into the shopping mall and stopped the car, she tossed the rat on my lap and told me to babysit it while she went to shop. So I had to hold it so it would run loose and leave little rat doo all over my car. It really was a test of my patience and overcoming my fear. I did hold her rat pets a very few times after that. I must have been drinking at the time. She had those rodents so spoiled that they would start to try to run under my blouses and that was a bit hairy for me. Despite my "connection" to her rats, today, if I would see a mouse in this place I would still freak out.
4. Cats are very agile and atheletic. "Freddie" our cat could jump from the floor to the top of a door and balance himself on it. I was always amazed at this ability he had. I would like to see my ass try and do that.
