This site does not have active online meetings currently. You might reach out to specific board members and use that space for chat. It is open for that anytime. Welcome to MIP

I sent a message to John several weeks ago in response to a request on the main page of this site that they needed people who were willing to chair meetings here and who had at least 6 months sobriety. I haven't received a reply. I was willing to do it and since then my time and focus has been filled with AA activities in my area.

When I was new Priscilla, I made a commitment to post here every day for 90 days. In the beginning - I had to make myself, as time went on - I wanted to. Today, I GET To.

Many don't survive this disease. It's a disease that tells us we don't have it, this makes it unlike almost any other. That is how it kills. If you never give up, and keep coming back no matter what - NO. MATTER. WHAT. - and do what is suggested in the BB and by the old timers... you will survive.

The promises are an extra bonus to the fact that you will GET to live - and they ALWAYS materialize if we WORK for them. Not sometimes - always.

THE A.A. PROMISES

If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and selfpity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among ussometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.

This is from the big book of AA - if you don't have one - you can read it online.

Hello and welcome to MIP!

Our illness is  physical ,mental and spiritual WE begin our healing by putting down the drug(alcohol). If the person feels they can address the spiritual and mental part of this illness own their own, that is their choosing....I have known many who stopped using but never found the beauty of 'DAILY RECOVERY' because major parts of recovery were missing.. Big Book (3rd edition.pg 59 states) Here are the STEPS we took ,suggested as a program of recovery.  For me, I attended meetings for first 4 years of my daily recovery and then slide away..I never used alcohol again but found my illness (my powerless and unmanageability rearing its head in "all the other areas of my life)so I agreed that if I was going to go swimming then I would at least jump in the pool...You will have to decide to do "whatever it takes" to remain free of active addiction..Sharing with others and giving back helps US to realize that WE do become Visions of HOPE,,WE become examples that the "program(pg59) does work,,and our Joy(that's addressing all areas of our lives not just putting the substance down)and living free is an attraction to those who still suffer.                                   www.aa.org/

WE  know we must get along without liquor, but how can we? Have we a sufficient substitute?" Yes, there is a substitute and it is vastly more than that. It is a fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous. There you will find release from care, boredom and worry. Your imagination will be fired. Life will mean something at last. The most satisfactory years of our existence lie ahead. Thus we find the fellowship and so will you. "How is that to come about?" you ask. "Where are we to find these people?" we are going to meet these new friends in our own community. .....Among them we will make lifelong friends. WE will be bound to them with new and wonderful ties, for us will escape disaster together and we will commence shoulder to shoulder your common journey. Then you will know what it means to give of yourself that others may survive and rediscover life. You will learn the full meaning of "Love thy neighbor as thy self." [Big Book page 152]       I interjected the word ;WE; for ;I here..

WE can only suggest making a meeting, you have nothing to lose and much to gain...You can also GOOGLE AA.ORG/ to look at our pamphlets and literature and get an idea of what meetings are about and many other areas of recovery...Hope to hear more from you.In support and Prayer.......smilesmile...
