RARELY HAVE we seen a person fail...

"RARELY HAVE we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest." pg58 AA book.

Well actually it's not our path, it's God's path. When I have come to an end of myself and my worldly resources [step1], I have to turn to God [step 2]. There is no other choice, I have to make a decision [step3]. I shudder to think of the consequences that would have ensued had I not taken these steps. I witness living examples of those who did not take the steps and I thank God for sending those sponsors to intervene in my unmanageable life and bring me to a state of sanity.

Life can be tough but never unmanageable, because God has always made a provision for me when I have failed. That's why AA calls Him a loving Father.
