I read about those coming back on this site..I said nothing..I went to take a nap on my boat.. The wind is howling but on the other hand..it has cooled things here in Samoa.. Three hours earlier than it is in HollywoodI thought,,lying there, maybe Ill be there some day but that is all in the Hands of God.
I remembered early in my sobriety Bill F an oldtimer, who was rather famous for always saying as a reminder Whose in charge. People can say these things at meetingsbut do they really click.. Do we really know the import of what that really means.
I wrote a Screenplay didnt take long to write the first draftgave it to a relative who was in production He told me it sucksIt was lightly autobiographical. Reggie.. the main character was a recovered alcoholic.It took me over six months however on the rewriteReggie was a guy who who now lost his sobriety and just coming back.. after 15 years sobrietyI have over 40 years sobriety but had to write about a guy, presumerably myself, now coming back.. When he picks up his white chipbefore sailing off He saysI know EVERYTHING about staying sober but Im not INSANITYI lost everything, One decent thing left my boatWhen a storm almost takes him and his boat..he undergoes a profound spiritual experience..Act 2 begins with him and f a friend in the boat yard, they are going to a meeting...friend much more sobriety.. Reggie a smart guy now realizes what he was, a PONTIFICATOR "knows everything"..as George tells him Reggie your job is to just listen.. God is in charge..Reggie realizes it was the hand of God ONLY that saved himHes a changed manThe story goes on"If you want the synopsis it is on my Face Book Page Tomas Sailor".I would never have written this posting to the board.. but for the 2 postings I read todayThe ironytodays the Academy AwardsI work very hard to get it producedand feel if it does.. it just may have the quality to get nominated and win.but always remind myself.. Whose in charge...This has been a big conversion factor for me.. what took 6 months on the re-write was to feel the insanity must be of picking up the first drink.. The Screenplay by the way has a happy endingThanks to Reggie and his newly realized higher power. His job help others..He becomes a great Captain.Today when things potentially get difficult I remind myself "Whose in charge"Thats why life is so good for menot because of 40 years sobriety..but because Im not in charge ForThose coming back its all about TODAY.ONLY
I feel that my Higher Power has taken over, result is the day has been great.
Spain is also experiencing high winds, just had to lock down all outside furniture with stones, the ducks and hens have gone into their houses, the doggies, cats and me are safely tucked up inside, with tea and blankets.
What are you doing in Samoa in the cyclone season? I'm currently in Dunedin NZ where it's blowing and cold. At least it will be warm where you are. Any thoughts of coming to NZ?
