I got a happy thought now.  Our black cat Pickles keeps digging the teabag out of my empty mug.  i pick it up off the table and put it back in the mug and then he digs it out again and chews on it.  maybe he thinks it has catnip in it (it doesn't, it's sleepytime extra by celestial seasonings, helps me calm down at night instead of having a drink or two, three, four....  We have so many dumb animals around here its hard not to laugh at them.  right now I have 5 cats and 2 small dogs.

Wow-I just replied, then deleted it accidentally! Oh well-my happy thoughts are often cat-related! (and if it works, I'll post photos of the two kittens I wrote about but deleted the writing!)

My kitten Sidney was just licking my hand and rubbing my face-he's a gray tabby probably six or seven months old, a little sweetheart! Only an ogre would not love him and his sweet purring face rubbing you!

The black kitten named Severus Trent (AKA "the Screamer") was also just playing with my fingers. He is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina, and maybe becasue of that trauma, he has a really insatiable appetite-and opens anything he thinks might be food. Severus has opened packages of salmon, penut butter cups, and mint-flavor Hershey's kisses, to name a few. He's fond of knocking over the kitchen trash in search of snacks, too. But he has a great purr almost as loud as his voice!

Yes, cats bring happiness to my life-make it seem better on bad days or good ones! Hope I can send along photos, but if not, just imagine these little guys!

Cute image you produced for me with the cat and the tea bag! I read your first post,  I think you've got lots of "happy thoughts" all thru there. i.e. you didn't kill a mother and her children, you  didn't hit a wall at 70mph. Those to me would definatley be things to be HAPPY about......and my happiest thought is always this, "but for the Grace of God".

Have a great day, ya'll!

Good Morning Michelle,

That p.m. meetings sounded so heartbreaking.

I want to tell you about a man that spoke at a meeting many years ago, that I will never forget.  He told the group about Traveling across the Golden Gate Bridge, was reaching for his bottle under the seat, took his eyes of the road for 2 seconds, ran head on into a car, killing a young man, that was on his honeymoon in San Francisco.

When the Courts were about to sentence him for his Felony DUI, the young mans new widow, came to the Court that day, and pleaded with the Judge, not to sentence him, but, because he suffered from an illness, would the Judge please allow this man to go into Treatment for this illness, not send him to Prison.

Well that's what happened, he went into Treatment, and to this day, remains a good friend to this young woman.  One of those truly Amazing stories that you hear, in these Amazing Rooms of A. A.

They are heartbreaking stories. They sober us to the core. They become etched in our memories, because they are truly our brothers and sisters, and we can only love them, in their pain.

How is your life going,  sounds pretty good.  I remember telling you that I lived in Portland in my second year,  so many good meeting there. Are you getting to them, and have you found a sponsor, working on step One.??

Thanks for the tip, I did not know Sleepytime Tea came in Extra,  I'm going to but some.  What i do is use 2 bags of tea,  let it steep for 10 minutes so it almost looks like coffee, when I want to make sure I'll get a good nights  sleep.

And good for your son, with those "A", you must be so proud of him.

Hope you have a Good day with your little Blessings,  those kitty cats sound so great, so much love running all over your  house.

A Big Hug this morning!

Toni

Hi Michelle,

I am an alanoner checking the AA site out today. Your first post wasn't about happy thoughts but the reality you expressed takes the veil off the disease. This can only help us all. Your second post about cats - cats and what they do always, always makes me smile!

In support,

Nancy
