H.A.L.T. (Hungry Angry Lonely Tired) Important Acronym For Alcoholics Especially the Newcomers to AA
Permalink

I learned early in AA to be aware of these four things which could lead me to drink. Being aware of these things that are going on can save your life and H.A.L.T. your desire to drink. Are you.....

HUNGRY

ANGRY

LONELY

TIRED

The two times during my sobriety when I was seriously considering drinking again, I was all of these things. There are a very few other times when the thought of drinking entered my mind when I was angry/frustrated and maybe one of these other things. But the strongest urge I have had to drink happened twice and it was because I wasn't taking proper care of myself which probably fueled my emotions more. Just wanted to pass it on.

Yes it certainly is BTY .

Not to try to out-do you , I was taught it was H , A , L , T , T , S .

Hungry , Angry , Lonely , Tired , Thirsty & Serious .

I once put  "12X12=1X24" as a name on an 'interstater' I drove ,

nobody ever got th meaning of it , even had to explain it at th odd meeting .

it sort of meant practicing 12X12 led to 1 happy day . I have a book of AA acronyms ,

there are so many great ones in it . Have a Great day.

Yes, thank you, ZZ....I have never heard of that either...although I won't feel too bad because if Pappy hasn't heard of it until now, it must not be very widespread--yet. I am going to try to find that AA book of acronyms you have--never heard of that either and know it will help me.

The book of acronyms was put out by the Qld Pathfinder - which is -

The Queensland version of th Grapevine - Qld is nth/eastern state of Aussie - where Barrier reef is.

I will dig it up & post some - like ---- Fear

F**k everything and run

False evidence appearing real

False expectations about reality   &

FACE  EVERYTHING AND RECOVER

Hunger can still get me more than anything. It sets off the others.
