Have You Ever Thought Of This?

One day a long time ago, this thought came to me out of the blue.  Have you ever thought about this?

If you wanted to get in to see the President of the United States and tell him your troubles, express your feelings, or just talk with him, it's not very likely that you'd ever get to see him personally.  And, if you ever did, it would certainly involve a lot of "red tape".  Fly to Rome and try to meet and talk privately with the Pope on some Tuesday morning and see what that involves.  You might eventually get in, but it would likely take a lot of doing.  Try to get in to talk to Warren Buffet.  Do you think you'd ever really get to speak with him?  Let's say you'd like to have a chat with the Queen of England.  Could you get in to talk to her?  How about the other various rulers of the foreign countries around the world?  Good luck.  Do you think you'd even get a spontaneous meeting with a Senator or a Congressman?  How about the Mayor of your city?  Maybe you could get in...then again...maybe not.  All these various people hold very high positions in the world, and gaining access to them for a chat would be difficult at best.  In some cases, we'd even have to say...impossible.

But, now let's consider this:  Anytime you want to have a chat with the Creator Of The Whole Universe -- the One who created the Earth, the oceans, the sun and the moon and all the stars in the sky -- you can talk with Him immediately!!  Right Now!!!  At a moments notice.  You don't have to ask anyone for an appointment!!  And, you can talk to Him for 5 minutes....or, you can talk for an hour!  You have immediate access to Him...any time you want.  There's no waiting.  No delays.  No "red tape".  No forms to fill out.  All you ever have to do is turn you mind toward Him and start talking.  And, as soon as you do, you have His undivided attention.

That's simply what we call....prayer.

Blessings to everyone, Mike D.

Hey Mike, ...

It's odd that the first thing I thought of when I started reading your post, is why on earth would I go to these people to start with ??? ... when I could simply go THE highest power in the universe at a moments notice, no waiting !!! ... Then as I finished your post, I had to laugh, should have known you well enough by now to know where this was going ...GREAT post ... you read my mind, OR, was it the other way around ??? ... Good One!!!

We had a couple mild days last week, but you and Tasha sent your polar fronts this way and it's cold and rainy right now ... LOL ... chance of snow tonight in middle Tennessee ...

Oh, I had to leave my sponsor in Georgia dog-gone-it, ... but I'v got several emails from him I need to catch up on as soon as I finish here ... I'm going to miss our monthly lunch dates ... he was and is such a great inspiration to me ... as long as we stay in close contact, I'll probably just leave things the way they are for now ... the last thing I care to get into is having 2 sponsors that may give differing opinions when I need help handling a sponsee ... my current sponsor and I are so 'in tune' with each other I just can't picture having anyone else ... and at this point in my recovery, I know that finding a good match for a sponsor can be a difficult task ...

Oh, my sponsor knows all about my work on AA web sites ... he said as long as I keep to the principles in the BB and try to help others in recovery, that the experience would only serve to 'enrich' my 'spiritual experience' ... he's really a wise old dude, ex-marine type, LOL ... ... ...

Thanks for bringing this up, and God Bless,
Pappy

I know what you mean about getting a new sponsor.  When my original sponsor had to move away, I did get another sponsor but it was never the same.  Mike D.
