Hi lovinglife43,
Welcome to the board. I love your user name and if you are like me and countless others who stopped drinking, you will really be able to "love life" once you stop drinking. I had had enough of the drinking as it totally screwed up my life. Obviously, it sounds like you are wanting to change because you posted here looking for help. Good for you! That is a good first step. I started attending AA meetings. It was hard at first, but once I started, I realized how much attending meetings helped me stop drinking. I also realized that the feelings and emotions I had experienced for years which made me think I was so different from everyone else, were so similar to other alcoholics. I felt and still feel like I belong in AA. I had joined other groups and never felt like I related or had much in common with others until AA. I listen to the "shares" in the rooms and on this board and hear how people who have had success stay sober and that has really helped me stay sober myself. I also pray to my HP everyday and thank him for keeping me sober the day before and to please help keep me sober today. I have heard others share that at first they had no Higher Power that they believed in and they just prayed because they had nothing to lose and to get in the habit, and once they did, it really helped them.
I hope that you continue to post and let us know how you are doing. There are such wonderful people on this board who have lots of experience staying sober and have helped me not pick up a drink.
Take care and (((((hugs))))))
