Im an alcoholic. I havent been able to admit it to anyone but myself yet. But I know that I have a problem. I'm a young girl, married tto a man also a like me... A drunk... I just don't know if I should be posting here because I  am no where near recovery. I just feel so alone and have no where to turn. but, i thought my time would be better spent here. Than at home chewing my nails, fearing the thoughts my family had of me. I

Hey Raeear. You're in the right place if you want to talk about your concerns, hear other people's experiences, and get some support. We're glad to have you. Have you ever checked out an AA meeting?

Welcome to MIP Raeear, ...

We're really glad you're here ... There IS a solution to your sickness ... if you truly want to live a better life, then you have come to the right place ... Listen to what Jerry just said, you're not a bad person because you are an alcoholic, it just means you've made some very poor decisions ...

You've made a good decision to check out what this AA program can do for you, now it's time to get to some meetings and learn their IS life after alcohol, and it can be a damn good one ...

Hope and pray to hear more from you ...

Love ya and God Bless,
Pappy

Being here and opening up like that sure sounds like a good first step for you.  We all started some place and time and mine was with the statement, "I don't belong here, I don't like it and I don't like these people".   Wasn't much longer I came back and didn't open up my mouth at all...just listened.   You're in the right place.  Come back and listen...ask questions...follow thru on suggestions.  Being an alcoholic doesn't mean your bad...it means you're sick cause what we have is a life threatening disease and we can do something about it.   (((hugs))) smile

my 1st impressions Raeear.

"This is a real live "Fred Smith" show , who wants it"

fred smith= a shock jock in Sydney at the time I got sober-

real drama queen stuff . I was outa here . But where was I gunna-go .

I like your name - 2 ears , yes we have two ears & one mouth , do you think , that ,

we listen twice as much as we speak . There is a cliche' in AA .

"We learn to listen so we can listen to learn"

Age means Nothing in these rooms Raeear , I know of 15/17y-old kids get sober , women ,

millionaires- billionaires , nuns & priests , nurses & Drs , professors etc etc , have a look at my sig .

I was an Aussie Long distance Trucker - I was born with an Endless thirst .

I believe the Very instant we reach out for help . There is NO going back . I heard at my 1st AA meeting.

"Once we get , there is no safe return to normal drinking . AA ruins your drinking . Give in"

Yes Raeear here we "Give in" we Don't give up .

Please Keep Coming back.

You are in the right place and admitting you are an alcoholic to yourself is the most important thing to getting and staying sober and the first step in recovery. I wish I was your age when I first admitted my problem to myself; however, I think you are never to young and you are never too old to admit it and try to do your very best to make your life what it is meant to be.
