I hear you, Angell. My recent encounter at work was equally deflating if not worse. I guess some people never learn. Anyway, for those who don't know, I'm a writer. And for some reason my boss and I don't always get along, not to anyone's surprise. He has an ego the size of Rhode Island, metaphorically speaking of course, which doesn't sit well with others including myself. And of course he knows how to push buttons just like the rest of us, but in some cases the outcome isn't as pleasant, this being just one. So the next time I make a 'recommendation' it must done privately and not in an open forum. That, according to him is frowned upon.

Well, anyway, it's just part of being human. Now if only I can find some black spray paint. There's a bald spot on his head that needs some touch up work. I know, tenth step again. Did I mention, I'm only human?  Onward...

I spent the day at a fair yesterday while my wife was working a booth.  I am sometimes really not good around other people; yesterday was one of those days.  I allowed someone to push a button and I responded with all ego.  It was, in retrospect, so ugly and very disappointing.  I will do better in the future.  Odd though, the way it came about.  He did not insult me, he insulted my higher power (who yes, is completely beyond insults) and I responded really, really poorly.

Anywho, just allowing you all to hold me accountable by sharing struggles as well as victories with you.

Thanks Angell.

I make mistakes on a regular basis. Fortunately I have step 10 to deal with them promptly, and not allow them to build up into something which might overwhelm me. Step 10 is an absolute life saver for me and should be practiced from day one.

God bless,
MikeH.

That's the grace for me also Mike...#10 especially the promptly cause if I don't it always seems that I am wearing velco and those self resentments stick hard and long.   I got the part about taking it personal when it wasn't really yours.  My sponsor taught me to say when I recognized I did myself in, "there I got myself good that time".   It's a humility practice and humility today is being teachable.   You've lived thru it.   smile

Hey Angell, ... at least most of us now 'recognize' when we slip into our 'old ways' of thinking ... it's truly a blessing to see our errors when we 'review' our day ... it's called 'living the program' ... good job ...

Angell, whatever you said is done.

But that was yesterday.

And yesterday's gone.

Progress not perfection, right?! I too find Step 10 a useful tool for processing things like that, which do happen. Thanks for sharing with us!
