Although i feel depressed after a binge, I've somehow got my sleeping pattern into waking up in the early hours of the morning instead of going to bed in the early hours. It's a bit strange but I've woke up, done some AA reading, 3 cups of tea, textd my friends, sent a couple of e mails, and i've just noticed how beautiful morning actually are. I can hear the birds singing, and flying around and people starting to get up, and can hear some traffic (prob no the best thing) but the fact that i have the whole day ahead helps my state of mind. Usually about this time (7am)  i'm starting to go under because the light is creeping in and all i want to do is carry on the party, either that or i'm throwing up in the toilet trying not to vomit on my own sick, or i've passed out still dressed on the floor...

Good morning all, today is a new day & we don't know what's in store :)

A new day is exactly that, a new day. I get up early. It is 4:00 am for me.

Sounds like a great day to be sober.

In a while the birds will start and light will start to peek thru the trees. I will be on my treadmill.

Let's stay sober and touch base again tomorrow morning. It's just one day. We can manage to do anything for just one day.

Yup....Its a nice change......Head not going Bong! Bong! Bong!...wondering what I said or did to who....the night before...and where..and fixing a whiskey in my coffee....just to calm the vibrations in the body and quiet the voices in my head

Not having to wake up on the neighbours couch...whos house I had wandered into by mistake...or asking someone to marry me....and forgetting what her name was...

NOW?? Its get up...3 coffees...5 smokes...meditate...get the weather...get the news...have a logical conversation with the voices in my head....and then?

Its nap time :)

I remember when I started waking up early, shortly after I got sober... I was amazed at how long a day really was! All those hours and hours of sunshine....

Sober now, the mornings are a blessing for me. I enjoy the bit of quietness in the morning especially when I don't have to rush off to work! Thanks for sharing.

good morning all, mornings are the best. when i was drinking i loved the night and drank til i passed out. mornings meant going to work with a hangover every morning. Today is a new joy, waking up to a loving husband, dog, and life. i choose to keep things positive with my actions and reactions. living intentionally in the present tense thanking God for my new and improved life of sobriety. thanks for the post.
