How did you stop drinking for 5 months ??? ... Have you been to an AA meeting ... Gonee lives in Africa, he may be able to assist you in how to find an AA group there ... If you haven't tried AA, then I highly suggest you get an 'Alcoholics Anonymous' book and start reading through it, and for sure start going to meetings if at all possible ... and if you can 'identify' with what's written in the book, then you'll also hold in your hand, the 'solution' to your problem ...
Let us know more about you and we will help you any way we can ...
Love you and God Bless, Pappy

i have not drunk fro 5 months, then hs week my whole self destruct ppart of me has arisen with force. i am on the verge of loosing the man i love and my possible road to wellness. i am fightig the urge to return to the pub as we speak. ive lapsed/relapsed. now all my strenght has gone.
We CAN recover from alcoholism, but it is not recommended that we try to do it alone. Help is available. There are AA meetings, and AA members all over the world. Have you been to any AA meetings yet? How do you feel about the idea? Or at least talking one on one with another person who has been where you are now, and who can help you?
I have been to some really wonderful AA meetings in South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, but it was a few years ago and I'm not in Africa now. But they are there, and help is available from some great people who just want to help you recover, just as the people before them helped them.
Do you want some assistance finding some AA meetings, or AA members to talk to? Let us know where you are and we can help.
Hello and welcome - there is a chat function on this board, and hopefully there will be live meetings near you. If not - please please keep coming back and we will help you as best we can long distance.
I sponsor a lady remotely from Africa. There is video chat now - and calling cards - and though we can never give each other a live hug, there is love and support in other ways. Keep us posted!

Hi Caro, I'm glad you're still trying to stay sober one day at a time. While I have no information about your ability to attend A.A. meetings in your area, or any progress you may have made in the 12 Steps in the past few months, I'm simply going to respond to your request for help in this way. I promise that I'll keep it short and to the point. You may or may not have access to A.A. meetings where you are. But, I'm going to assume that you have a Big Book. Whether you can attend A.A. meetings or not, you can still follow the instructions for working the 12 Steps in the Big Book. The 12 Steps themselves are your answer. If you work those Steps as best you can, I promise you that your life will change, because YOU will change. By themselves, meetings cannot change you...but the Steps will. When the Big Book was written, there were very few meetings sprinkled around the United States. But, people began staying sober by working those Steps as they are spelled out for us in the Book. In a perfect world you would have all the meetings you want, and many A.A. friends near you, and a great sponsor to help you through the Steps. But, we know that this is NOT a perfect world for some of us. So, you'll have to deal with things the way they are, and work with what you have. And, what you have is the 12 Steps and God. If I understand correctly, you are in Africa (??). Well, here's the best news of all: God is in Africa!!! The help you're asking for is available from Him. And, the 12 Steps will make His help readily available to you. It's all about prayer and action...and more prayer and more action. Thank you for letting me reply and share with you. Many blessings to you. Mike D.
