I have missed this board a lot and the people! I wanted to say hi to everyone I've missed talking to, though. Gave away 8 months of sobriety two months ago, but I'm back with 55 days again. Got kicked out of my soberliving and ended up in a dive motel under the 210 freeway here in LA. With a 5th of Jameson and $10 to my name I sat there amazed at how things turned out, where I was, what I was doing. Some great people in the recovery community in Pasadena rallied and gave me an intervention, but it was more like an extraction team that plucked me out of the motel and was given a scholarship from Pasadena Recovery Center for one week. Very grateful for all the people who helped me.
Some positive changes are occurring for me which I am grateful for (when I sit back with perspective). However, it is difficult to sit with myself for very long. The mornings are best, when its cool and cloudy here in LA. Have a new sponsor, and making meetings every day. I have to say, I am pretty crazy. For instance, today my afternoon was empty and so I drank a whole pot of coffee and then proceeded to shadow box in my room and swear out loud for about two hours...towards the end of that episode I dropped to my knees and prayed to "god" to remove the obsession because I wasn't goin to last if I didn't get some help. Within minutes, I got a call from a friend checking on me, and then I got another call from a potential employer requesting I come in and sign a contract! This employment opportunity could be monumental for me, financially. This is when I usually pull the house of cards down upon my head, so I need to be extra vigilant, but I am hopeful.
Glad to be back here and hope to "see" all my old friends!
So, you got down on your knees and prayed because you needed some relief from the chatter between your ears, and you got a call from a friend checking on you and a call from a prospective employer? I'd keep doing that if I were you, sounds like it's working. Glad you made it back alive.

Hi Dodsworth, ... glad you made it back and congrats on 55 days ... that's no small feat ...
You will be in my prayers too ... don't stop praying, I'm living proof that it works ... no matter how 'hard core' we were as drunks, we can still stay sober with the proper guidance ...
Love ya man and God Bless, Pappy

Sometimes I rant & rave around the house pissin' and moanin' too.... It truly is a daily reprieve contingent upon the maintenance of my spiritual condition.
I lately have found a great deal of strength and direction just reading and re-reading "How It Works" .. then hitting a meeting.
Welcome back Dodsworth, glad you made it,many of my posse didn't.Time to pick yourself up,dust yourself off and move forward working on what your gonna do different this time..Congrats on 55 days......With God all things are possible,,,day at a time man.....Blessings of this day....

Welcome home Dods...was wondering for a while and then had to return to my own back yard. Some one once taught me that you cannot go back out without taking your sobriety with you. We don't start back at zero I believe the subject was saying. If that was you I'm glad it helped you find home. Keep coming back...smile at the 55 additional days.
Hey Adam, nice to see you in here. The daily prayer to remove the obsession worked for me at about 6 months. Never have thought seriously about a drink since then.
