I'm here and sane (I think).

I decided after my bust to listen a hell of a lot more than I spoke, because I realise now that much of what I said wasn't humble. I'd taken a holier than thou attitude. I had IT, get me, so no matter the short cuts I'd taken I was fully qualified to lecture newbies on the 'best' way to do AA. Shortcuts, arrogance, and my will not thy will, turned out to be an accident just waiting to happen. Not that it'd be news to the founders or to anyone that had been around a while. :)

So. Cotton wool out of the ears and into the mouth. I can't listen when I'm talking, right.

But I'm here, and I always get inspiration from those that post here: be it the older posters passing wisdom or the new ones taking the scariest and yet most wonderful step they'll ever do. I love and care for you all, and always wish you the best. I also always need to read your stories to remind me that I am the orange in the apple bowl, so even without an acknowledgement remember that it all made a difference.

In different news I've just started a new job. It involves me doing long hours for good money and very good respect, and I can only say was something that was dropped from heaven to me. I still don't know why a poor sinner like me was chosen for this but I'm making the best fist of it I can, and I'm going to make them proud of me - me. That useless alcy that couldn't do anything without help before AA showed me there was a real and better way.

Today I am useful and hopeful, and without all of you wonderful people I'd be useless and hopeless as I once was.

Peace and love to all of you.

:)

Nice to hear from you Frodo and congratulations on the new job. Work is certainly good for the soul.

I remember landing a job like that. I couldn't believe it, just about the best job a young fella could have. I would have done it for half the money I loved it so much. And I became the kind of employee the Big Book talks about in To Employers. And when all this good stuff happened, I kept working with others and sharing my good news in the fellowship, never forgetting to thank Who was really responsible.

Great to hear of your good fortune Frodo. Remember to give it away.

God bless,
MikeH

I really, really want to WELCOME you back to the family Frodo ... whether you had 'humility' in the past is no matter ... the main thing is today, you're back with family ...

Love you man and God Bless,
Pappy

Hey Frodo, good to hear from you!  Thank you for your post and honesty.  I hear humility and the deflation of Ego in your post.  We can all learn from your experience.  I remind myself often that any success I may be having today is far more God and The Program of AA's success that anything I'm doing.  I could've never designed or implemented the life I have today.  Only a power greater than me could do this.  This keeps me humble and the Ego well grounded.  I need that.  Peace brother.

Hey Frodo - I have problems with humility too. I'm very proud of my humility, lol.

At any rate, congratulations on the job. After I got sober, I was handed the best job I've ever had in my life. Hmmm...there must be something to this sobriety thing. :)

You've been one of my favorites from the beginning and still are.  I'm hoping and praying you lost eveything before you started getting it back.    Good jobs and money were always a part of my ego...prideful stature.  HP blesses and HP blesses Frodo.  Congradulations.  (((hugs))) smile
