Hey everyone its been awhile since i've been active on this board. Still sober haven't had a drink since I can remember.
I've been busy , I ended up taking on another job as Head chef for a new resturant, and its been alot of fun. I'm known for Soda water, after my shift i'll sit down and have a quick soda water with friends then head home. It works for me.
This board helped me alot when I was first struggling, its amazing on how a few months ago every second of my mind was obsessed with drinking and how I could get my next drink now weeks are going by with no thoughts or craving for it.
Which is part of the reason why i distanced myself from this board, the message is there for people that need support away from drinking, but when you not craving or thinking about it, i find its just a reminder. Mind you, we all need a reminder from time to time.
I just want to thank everyone who helped me you truly did.
Justadrunk, Col, Pappy, RubyTues you guys rock and of course Bob!
I'll try to pop in on Saturday mornings meeting ..
Good to see ya Murray : ) Glad you are loving your new job. I was just talking about your art with someone the other day... one of my good teacher friends is an art teacher.
What you had and still do have going for you even when things were rough and sobriety seemed to be impossible with slips and all... you kept coming back.
I think you have a theme for your recovery that works for now - so please do keep coming back - and maybe check out those steps sometime too if you find yourself irritable and discontented... you have a back up plan that has worked for millions who have also felt that way when meetings just weren't enough anymore. There are probably lots of people (like Pappy) right here on this board who could take you through the steps remotely - I'm working with someone in Australia! It's really cool! Skype and international phone plans = lots of fun, and I just love her accent... gets me giggly and happy to be alive just listening to her no matter what she's saying!
I tell her this often... I'm not her best possible chance at recovery. I'm not all that she deserves outta this... BUT... considering her work schedule doesn't allow her to go to meetings at all, and there also is only one to chose from where she is, this is by far better than nothing at all! I ask her often if her schedule has changed and she can make it to live meetings and get a live sponsor who can give her a real hug once and a while... hehe... she has the same thing going for her... she keeps coming back no matter how much I rag on her : ) Love ya Murray!

Thanks for everything. Peace and Love on your journey.
Murray!! Great to hear from you! Good to hear you're sober and happy:) I'm the 'water with lemon' girl in the restaurant haha. All my coworkers are drinking the beer and wine, and I'm on the water w lemon. I got a few funny looks at first, but now nobody even notices. Once in a while a bar patron will give me a hard time about it, but ask me if I care- lol! It can be difficult to remain sober in this industry, but it's entirely do-able and I know of quite a few chefs and bartenders that are sober and in the fellowship. Thanks for showing that it can be done. I'm so glad that you are back to your love of being a chef:) don't be a stranger.
If I get pressed to drink in social situations, I start off politely declining. But if somebody gets in my face about it, I usually tell them straight up that I'm an alcoholic. Talk about a wet blanket, lol. Nobody bothers me after that, hahaha.

This is great news ... glad you found something you like ... please keep reading the BB and the 12 & 12 for the keys to 'continued' sobriety ... no one works the program exactly the same and I am thrilled what you're doing is working out for you ... some of us sicker puppies still need a 'drill Sargent' for a sponsor though ... glad to know you're sober and doing well ... ... ...
Love ya man and God Bless, Pappy
