Letting Go and Letting God...

It was a very nice evening meeting in an old church by the sea cliffs.  He had not been there before and was enjoying the mellow atmosphere.

The secretary suggested a topic of surrender and the meeting took off from there.   He listened until the urgency to visit the restroom overtook him.

Rather than break into the magic of the discussion he left the chapel and wandered outside.  Surely he would find it and then not.

He wandered over to the sound of the surf some 50 or so feet below the level on which he was standing.  Surely no one would chastise him for relieving himself off the cliff in what was almost total darkness.

One tiny step too far and he was over the edge flailing for safety,

which seemingly came as he felt and grabbed at a bush anchored to the cliff wall.

He hung there in mounting fear and panic as the topic of the evening's meeting reappeared in his thoughts.

He prayed to what ever Higher Power might rescue him from the predicament after screaming for help to no avail.

"Oh gracious and merciful Power greater than all others...I direly need thy assistance...I am tiring and afraid of falling to my demise"

He stopped to take in a whisper of a breath and heard a reply.  "This is the Higher Power greater than yourself how might I help you"?

"I have fallen from the ground above me.  I have grabbed upon a fragile limb by which I am now suspended above an ocean raging on the boulders below.

I don't know what to do".

After the slightest of pauses the voice of promise responded, "Be faithful and trusting and let go of the fragile growth and rest assured I will catch you and keep you from an untimely demise".

The missing alcoholic considered the suggestion and then raised his head back up toward the surface above him and asked.

"Is there another Higher Power up there that I can talk to"?

Hope it helps.   (((hugs))) smile

Yes Thank you Jerry

Faith=being sure of what WE hoped for and certain of what WE have not seen......Are we willing  TO LET GO or continue to seek our own solutions? For this old hardhead I continually seek the ability to LET GO sometimes grasping and flailing insanely, but with much progress a day at a time...Thanks for focus Jerry,,,have a blessed and productive day!smile
