I agree with your sponsor and Bob and Tom ... ... ... To me?, ... it was a big step ... didn't know if I was ready either ... didn't feel like I knew the program well enough ... when I approached my sponsor with the question, 'am I ready to sponsor, you think?' ... he asked, did you drink today? ... I said no ... he said then you know how to share with another, just how you didn't take a drink today, he said, that's all you need to know to get started ... ... ...
I am here to tell you though ... ... ... when I did start to sponsor, I found myself literally studying the BB so that I would look smart to my new sponsee ... if you want to know the BB 'inside and out' just sponsor someone ... let me tell ya, they have questions, and lots of them ... and that's what's great about having your own sponsor, they are there to answer the questions you might not be up for yet ... it's a GREAT experience, one you should look forward to ... it will help you more than I can explain here ... talk about getting back??? ... it a great feeling to know that you meant something to someone's sobriety today ... ... ...
You go Girl ... ... ...
Love ya and God Bless, Pappy

My sponser hit me with a very overwhelming idea yesterday- that I need to start sponsering others. Like NOW. Like today start putting myself out there as a potential sponser. I know in the old days, if you had a day sober you should sponser others. Things are different now, and Im blessed to live in an area where there's lots of women with waaayyyy more sober time and experience than myself. I do not think I'm ready, I don't think I'd be 'good' at it. In terms of my peers with similar lengths of sobriety, I'm already way ahead in terms of step work. This isn't said to brag, it's said because I feel like maybe this is moving too fast. It's overwhelming, and I don't think I'd make a good sponser at this point in time. Did anyone... Or everyone feel this way? Or did you just know when it was the right time?
Hi Col. I felt the same way the first time someone asked me to be their sponsor. But my sponsor told me I was ready and asked who I was saveing my ESH for if not someone who needed it. He said all I had to do is pass on what I had learned from him and what he had learned from his sponsor. Once you start I think you'll like it and feel great watching someone grow in the program under you guidance. Remember a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

If someone wants what you have and asks you to sponsor them - and you have the time - then it's time. You'll learn so much about how much you've actually grown, and how much you've learned. You'll be asked questions, and when you don't know the answer... you'll have to find out.
You have a good sponsor from what it sounds like. You're not going at this alone. When you're unsure just say "I'll find out" or "good question... let's figure that out together". Remember, they are going to teach you way more than you're going to teach them. All you're going to do is share how you did it. The true student is you... and this is about keeping you sober - not them.

Well, that question has been answered because since writing this post I've somehow acquired 2 sponsees. What? Don't worry, pappy- I've got my highlighted, dog eared BB ready :)
This is great news Col ... ... ... WOW, 2 all of a sudden ... that'll keep you on your toes for sure ... ... ... Yep, my BB is 'dog-eared' and 'highlighted' so much that I think the whole darn thing is highlighted ... just about every page!!!
You'll do well ... we're here for you too, so we gotcha covered ...
