A Christian Prayer for you.

I wasn't capable of not being judgmental toward this kind of post in the beginning. Now, what's cool, is I can be open minded and accepting/tolerant enough of others beliefs if it works for them - and hope they can return the favor. This program can work if your HP is a Group Of Drunks... I know, because that was my HP to start out with - I had to swap out my definition of the word God every time I heard it said - and it worked, because AA was keeping me sober when nothing else I tried did - so that AA group of drunks was my HP.

Or your HP can be as it is written in the bible or everything in between and beyond. All inclusiveness is the AA way - and that rocks! If you're new, and you think that someone is going to shove their belief on God down your throat - think again - I did not have that experience at all. But remember, people can believe and express their belief in any way they want. I know a guy who's HP is the universe - and know people from every type of religion or none at all. You can get sober and live a better life no matter what your belief is here.

Thanks for the post Gonee, I'm so glad you're posting more again, I missed you while you were away for a bit : )

Thanks guys : )

I have my eyes on you, and on Gonee too. I try and listen to the old timers no matter what their beliefs are in a HP. They have made the mistakes I will make. I want to see how they handle them (especially you guys hehe).

I have had my eyes on Gonee since day one here, because of his story in particular being so similar to mine. He was married with very small children like me when he started, and has proven that the whole family can recover, and not just recover, but be an amazing success story of a family with love and all the good things that follow along with that.  If they can do it for decades, so can I.  This is what I'm striving for. I keep my eye on him. I see my little ones happier, healthier... my marriage, the lives of those who come into contact with me are no longer worse off for it. That's a miracle. I had to see it was possible to give it my all - I see you guys give it your all, and I know if you can do it, I can do it. You lift me up when I am self destructing and push me over the humps when I can't make it and make me smile when it gets too hard. You are a power greater than me and I still see my HP in you. Thank you : )

What shall I say today? I have no need for myself, so I am going to pray for you.
I pray that God heals you.
I pray that God blesses your home.
I pray that God protects you from the evil one.
I pray that God blesses your marriage and your children.
Father God, This is my request for my Brethren, this day, which I place before you in the name of our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Very well said Tasha, ... ... ...

Your growth here and in your program never ceases to 'amaze' me ... Wisdom has come to visit you, and I hope it remains ... the new-comers would do well to listen to you as they experience early AA ... you have a unique way of making a connection with them I'm sure ... I no longer think your youth is a crutch, you're well beyond that stage now ...

Welcome 'old-timer' ... ... ...

Love you and God Bless you,
Pappy

Thank you Gonee!

Tasha, my experience was similiar to yours.  My Sponsor was my HP in the beginning.  Then it evolved into the Group.  Then the Principles of AA.  Then a HP of my understanding.  I had to believe to see.  Trust in others and The Program.  By staying sober and trusting something other than me, I saw to believe.  My HP was there working in my life.  The seed had germinated.

Thank you for the beautiful prayer, gonee. God is good and it is lovely to behold His works, especially the way He comes to the aid of those who call.
