I truly wish ya'll would support a few meetings a week on this site. We dont do video chat simply because it can be recorded and it goes against traditions. I have them setup so they are very easy to chair for those willing to make a once a week committment. Just a few clicks of your mouse and you are doing the readings, info, etc and then the only thing is to pick topics and ask who would like to share first... from there its who would like to share next....
I would be willing to chair a meeting in our room next monday so you can see how they are run and how good an online mtg can be.

Does that mean I would have to clean up my room ??? ... ... ... Don't you have to have a camera for that ? ... ... ... it does sound weird ... what's the 'link' (meeting site) ???

I've tried it when I was feeling a little..um.. lazy :) to get to a meeting. It didn't work for me. Like- the meeting worked but the whole format I felt was not for me. I live in an area where there's way too many meetings for me to do online meetings unless I'm running a high fever or something similar.
Yes Pappy - they used the webcam and speaker that was already built into my computer and I didn't know it lol
So you just sit and watch a bunch of little 'people pods' and you each take turns speaking, and if you do not happen to have a mic and web cam in your computer, then you just type out your share. This one was a topic meeting. There were people sitting in there hospital beds and stuff... so I was really angry at myself for TOTALLY CHOKING! I was 'ON" and then I just stammered a bit and said nothing and logged out! BLECK! What a let down. I think I need to go back and redeem myself LOL
So yeah, I suppose you can see the back of my couch and lamp... and if you show your whole room, people will see it's a mess. Most people looked like they were at home or in the hospital. Messy hair, backround - some were eating, some smoking - drinking coffee... in a way it's a genius idea for those who are remote or sick or whatever. I suppose you get to know your little group just like here, only you can't hug anyone or shake their hand.
Someone chaired the meeting, and we did all the readings and what not... then just began...
I was checking into it mostly for my husband because there are no male alanon people here, and some of the long timers suggested he find online meetings and an online sponsor. I was being snoopy... can you imagine that????

Thanks for everything. Peace and Love on your journey.
ive done online meetings that i found to be pretty cool. no cameras allowed, but able to listen or share if i wanted. set up just like f2f, but without the f2f. pretty amazing to be able to be in a meeting with people all around the world and actually hear the sobriety. met some really good, sober folks there, a few that live in michigan and i have taken road trips and met them for a f2f meeting. dot know iffen i can post the links and stuff, but if interested, send me a PM.

What is the link for that meeting, tomsteve? There is no rule against sharing it.
Yes, one can meet up online with all kinds of AAers from all parts of the world and that is pretty cool.
Looks like we're gonna get our own meetings going soon . . .
