I propose, for this holiday weekend, if anyone can't get to an outside meeting and needs one, that we could each monitor this board for an hour or two, in case some new happens to find us and is in need. My time is cst. I can monitor from 7:00 to 9:00 AM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

I won't be able to sit here and watch the screen. I can check every 15 or 20 min. for activity.

Also, if you can think of a way to contact me when there is a ( special need ) meeting about to happen, I would appreciate it.

What do ya'll think?

I am open to more ideas.

hi, Chris,,,  your ideas are good ones, and we have tried to do that. Unfortunately the people who are regulars on the message board are not regulars in the meeting room. Regular meetings have had pretty poor attendance. I sometimes will stay in one of the meeting rooms for awhile, and what usually happens is that no one comes in for a long time,, so I start to do something else,, either bring another screen up or go make some tea or something,, and that is when someone comes in,,  says hello...  I don't hear it cuz there is no buzz,,  I come back  but the person has not waited.. and we repeat the cycle. It would be great if John could add a buzzer. well, so this message board becomes the next best thing... as if someone has the time can watch for posts, and the rate of posting speeds up.  I'll be popping in, and maybe I'll catch you.

love in recovery,

amanda

Hi Chris,

Good idea, I dont know about a meeting, but we or I will Post a note "Welcome - if your are new, just hit the Reply Button and Send a Message" one of us will get right back to you.

Yesterday, when I made a Post, I clicked on "email me when there is a Response", and it worked well,  I was doing other things, but went to my computer when I heard that "You've Got Mail." Got the usual junk mail,  but also was aware when I got a Response.

I would be Available from 5:30a.m. to 7:30 a.m PST.  or  from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. PST, does that Conflict with CST.  i will have to calculate.  Anyway I think it is a great idea.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

Toni B.

P.S.  My Christmas Plans were cancelled, so I would be available on Christmas Eve too.

Hi Chris, I'm kind of like Phil and Amanda, I don't know when I can check in during the week-end, but I know I will be in and out.I would love to do on-line meetings here, but I attend f2f meetings every evening except Sunday and Monday.I don't know why we , or I should say I, don't use the chatroom more often, over on the Al-anon board they take full advantage of it, and the board is very busy. Have a great sober Christmas.

(((Hugs)))

Hmm, I will try to check in if there is a computer where I'm at-

The taking advantage of the instant chat idea is swell, although I am fond of these BBS boards- I like how they allow for a continuous, more enduring communication due to the posts staying up- So it doesn't matter where we live, or even what time we are on the computer during the day- We can still all communicate with one another- What a gift of the 21st century-

Take Care,

Joel B
