Simple program

The only thing that I had was a desire to stop drinking. AA did not ask me anything else. After I entered the doors and listened to the speakers and read the AA book, the realisation became apparent to me that I was an alcoholic. After my 1st relapse, I found that I was powerless over alcohol, and no matter how hard I tried, I could not stay sober or control the amount of alcohol I consumed.

Although I had a desire to stop, I also had a desire to drink. Today, the desire to drink alcohol has left me by working 12 simple steps.

On pg 63 of the AA book, it says "...we launched out on a course of vigorous action, the first step of which is a personal housekeeping..."

After working those 20 pages of the program, it says on pg 84 "..we have ceased fighting anything or anyone- even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned."

This is what was recommended when I came in, and I work at it and got the required results. I never relapsed again.

I just love those 10th step promises Gonee, I wish we heard more of them, and the truth that the action we need to take is covered in only 20 pages. Our next job is to grow spiritually.

10 Step Promises.

"And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone - even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned. We will seldom be interested in liquor. If tempted, we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we will find that this has happened automatically. We will see that our new attitude toward liquor has been given us without any thought or effort on our part. It just comes! That is the miracle of it. We are not fighting it, neither are we avoiding temptation. We feel as though we had been placed in a position of neutrality - safe and protected. We have not even sworn off. Instead, the problem has been removed. It does not exist for us. We are neither cocky nor are we afraid. That is our experience. That is how we react so long as we keep in fit spiritual condition

God bless,
MikeH

Hi Gonee,

Good to hear from you. Great explanation of the simple program of recovery that only requires some vigorous action...

This breaks down the program to something about the alocoholic problem & there's a way out, a solution that works 1 day at a time, pg 84 that's mentioned is awesome its about acceptence
