Caffeine.....

Is anyone else a caffeine freak?  Does it matter? I have been a caffeine guy since I started AA (about 30 years ago now) I ended up drinking diet cola, and it is my current acceptable drug.  I tried to kick that habit a couple times, but really, is it that bad? Do we have to have something to take the place of the booze?

For the first few weeks I was addicted to sugar...couldnt get enough candy. and of course Halloween isn't making it easier for me lol!!! I chalk it up to an addictive personality. But I can think of worse things than sugar and caffeine to be reaching for....

I know what you mean about Halloween ... I bought some candy at the store last week,
went up stairs to get me some yesterday and the wife had nearly eaten it all already ... LOL

Here Tom, you'll like this you caffeine nut ... ... ... Oh, coffee's a bean, right ...

Caffeine Is My Shepherd

Caffeine is my shepherd; With it besides me, I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures:
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz:
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,
I will fear no Equal (tm):
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of The Starbucks:

Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my
life: and I will dwell in the House of Mocha's forever.

I like to collect things. motorcycles, guitars, coffee mugs, cd's, houses... the disease of more is alive and well, as long as it's useful

I can't tell you guys anything about coffee, but I used to drink quite a bit a few years ago. Now I find if I have any after about 3.00 pm, I won't sleep. I one point, "disease of more" that Dean mentioned, I'd drink short blacks for the pick me up effect. First one or two would work alright, but I would have to have one or two more and end up wizzing round in circles, achieving nothing. The system seems much more sensitive to chemicals than it used to be.

God bless,
Mike.

Yeah me too. I don't prefer coffee, though or soft drinks just tea, green tea to be exact. I know, they make decaffeinated versions nowadays, but it's not the same.

Ice cream would be a close second, preferably coffee or those candy flavored chocolate versions. Just a few of my favorites.

Good Morning everyone!!! I have had a bit of caffeine, and I am about to head out to a project house and start working. I am going to cover up the broken leg with a plastic bag and fine sand the foyer and living room floor, and get a coat of stain on, I am going to drag out the wall mud and prep three rooms for painting. How does he do it? Caffeine! Thanks for all the inputs, and I especially liked the poem Pappy!

I can not wake up without my two cups every morning, but that's it or I can't sleep at night. I go to a 7AM meeting during the week and am still amazed after all these years at the coffee drinking capacity of some of my friends. I am still waiting for that intense sugar craving to go away....I think my body was permanently ruined by all the sugar in the Captain because I cannot step away from the cookies, or cake or candy....

StPete, I too like to collect the same things as you...is 8 motorcycles too many? I think not

This morning on my way to work, I stopped at the 7-11 like I do every morning and pick up two red bulls and a pack of cigarettes. When I used my card to pay for it, the register said it was expired. The cashier took 20$ from his own pocket and paid it for me. That man was a godsend. I got off work renewed my card and have a 20 sitting in my wallet for tomorrow when I see him.

I am a decaf only girl. I did have a huge issue with sweets the first year but have now cut those out for the most part. I just have the cigarettes to quit now...until something else comes along! Eek.
