Every time I get worried about something I say my prayers more.
--Jim Burns

Whether we grew up in religious families or not, most of us seek help from some Greater Power when we're faced with terrifying situations. Often it's at an unconscious level that we ask for extra help. But the fact that we do elicit strength from some source comforts us, and this enables us to walk through the experience that appears so daunting.

We never outgrow the need for strength and comfort. That's good news. It's too awesome to think that we need to know all now, to understand how every detail of living should unfold. It's quite enough to limit our focus on the details of the next 24 hours.

Let's be vigilant about our search for guidance and comfort. And let's not forget that we have to listen for the response. If our minds are filled with worrying, there will be no space for the answers to enter.

Praying for solutions or comfort or just a moment of peace will change my perspective today. When my perspective changes, so do my experiences.

Thanks Pappy. I have been worried all day about a performance Sunday. As a matter of fact I have been afraid since Monday. I cannot shake it. My head is cluttered. I am terrified.

Hey Kathy, ... If you happen to be worried about what other people think(of your performance), my sponsor
said that was it none of my business what other people think of me ... it only matters what I think of me ...
I know, he was talking about my personality in recovery, but I find it works in public too ...

Oh, ... picture the audience sitting there in their underware ... you know some with hearts on them, or ducks,
or tigers, or something ... just don't bust out laughing ... LOL

By-the-way ... what kind of performance are we talking about ??? American Idol, The X-Factor, Survivor ???

Thanks, underware, that just might work. A saxophone and piano piece for my friends piano recital. He is graduating and has to do a recital to pass for his masters in performance.

Guess I should have wrote this in the last one. It is funny the piece is called Holy Roller and is about pentecostal revival meetings. I am trying to channel my inner preacher. Ha. Here is the crazy piece I am playing if you want to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHtSzAlovaE this is not me.

WOW ... ... ... Because of the complexity of the piece, and him going for his master's, I take it he's the saxophonist? and you're the accompaning piano? ...
no matter, I enjoyed listening to the performance you posted ... thanks ... you must have a very special talent ...

P.s.  If you're the saxophonist, then you must already have your masters ...

I am the saxophonist. Yes, actually got the MM in 2000 from Northwestern. A bit proud of that. :) Wow, that was a long time ago. He is getting his master's in accompanying. Yes, it is a bit stressful. The piece is difficult and exhausting. I hope it goes well. I feel prepared, but always worry, and worry, and worry. Did I mention I worry. Glad you enjoyed the music. :)

I did it again. This should have gone in the last post...

so the answer to I worry is I took your advise and I have been praying even more. So, when I needed it most on friday I saw your post first. It just spoke to me. So, I have no doubt God is work in my life guiding me to the answers. I just need to stay open and free to receive. It is hard sometimes. Now I see it again.

Okay Kathy, I'm seriously impressed ... it takes a GREAT deal of talent to play like what I heard ...
I'd love to hear you play the southern 'blues' with that thing ... or perhaps some jazz ...

If you play anywhere close to the girl in the video clip, then you'd put poor old Bill Clinton to shame ... LOL

You have any 'youtube' clips?

Golly Gee ... Kathy, you are absolutely great ... what in the heck were you worried about Sunday ... I love this kind of music ...
you reminded me of the 'Glenn Miller' Band in the 50' & 60's ... I listen to an 'all instrumental' music channel on DirecTV everyday ...
(it's called 'new age' music) ... (My Granny was a concert pianist ... ) ... Mom played piano pretty good and I can't play hardly at all,
but Granny could blow your socks off ... Granny never liked Liberace ... said he was too showy ... LOL ... but I thought he was great,
loved his style ...
