You're right Closer, ... It's a sick society we live in ... blessed are the few that find a 'higher power' ... for me? , 'that one is God, may you find him now' ...

Like attracts like. As I become a person of more integrity I seem to draw those kind of people into my circle. I adore the friends I have made in recovery, simply adore them.

I don't believe our entire society is sick, that's a pretty pessimistic way of looking at things . There are tons of good people out there, you just have to figure out how to distinguish between people who are good for you and people who aren't. I still hang around friends I had when I was drinking, they aren't alcoholics. I also hang out with people I've met through the program.
I can talk for days about society in the 50's as opposed to today's society ... the two are so different so as to not even be similar in many ways ... Corruption in government was around then, but now it runs rampant ... the media & commercials & shows on TV couldn't even mention things like tampons & curse words ... now the media spreads half truths, distorts the news, commercials can advertise anything they wish and shows have cursing and sexually explicit content whenever they please(I saw a Victoria's Secret commercial last night ... although I drooled over the bodies these women have, I couldn't help thinking they're devaluing the very meaning of 'love and beauty' ... they make it seem cheap) ... human decency has been lost by the majority of the people in today's society ...
I don't view this as pessimism as you referred to, but as a very serious fact that we have a moral decline that is indeed making us a sick society as a whole ... So maybe we must simply agree to disagree ... for me to expand my 'case and point' here would involve a great deal of 'time' ... 'time' better spent elsewhere right now ... ...

So true. I'm glad your amoung us, Brian. Please stay that way.
Yes, I know how you feel, Everytime I hit the store, I see the same people in there buying booze as normal, not that they are bad people, but just cant brake apart from that life style, yes I do see them differently now, but over look them, and say to myself, I'm gald I'm not there anymore! I kicked my friends aside along time ago, those who didnt want to go up, Having kids and still going to bars, getting into trouble, Lol!, I drank but knew what the right thing to do was, partying like a teenager was not one!
Congrats on your almost one year, Thats just awsome! :)
