So, I was just minding my own business, not bothering anyone, when this boulder climbing wall comes along and.....you know..... starts making me climb it.  Yada Yada Yada, two plates and 11 screws later, I am laying back in the recliner being thankful it was not worse!

Yikes, hope you get better soon. I do a lot of stuff I probably shouldn't, my brain tells me I'm still 21.

I wish for you the same miracles that came for me when I was in the same condition...opposite foot...and for a different reason.   Mine was a HP attended event and higher education about how HP can and does work for us.  You got a bit more metal than I.  Maybe they found some leftovers from the last wall climber. LOL.  I wish you a speedy healing and HP has already been asked to give you some eye popping (doesn't require surgery) miracles.  If that picture is the "after" version what were they using as a guide?

Oh...sorry...I can't fix it any better.   Get well Tom.   smile

Thanks All,
Yes that is the before shot. I have not seen it since the surgery, so I am looking forward to that! Just trying not to overdo the Oxycontin and checking back here for inspiration.

I hope you feel better soon Tom.  Keep posting brother.  We're here for you.  That certainly doesn't look normal.  I was relieved to read that was the before picture.  biggrin  I can relate to the accident though.  My mind always tells me I can do things I have no business trying.  I remember skiing with the kids one winter.  There was this huge jump.  My mind told me, hey that would be cool, fly though the air like they do on TV.  I gave it a run.  Ended up in a face plant, broken sun glasses, bloodied eye and my kids standing over me asking if I was alright.  I said yes physically, but I think mentally- no.  confuse  biggrin  This coming after several years of not skiing and 20 years post skiing on a regular basis.

 Hey Mike,

You nailed it.  I was watching the "whippersnappers" going up the cliff, and my 13 year old wanted to try it but he was shy.  I really did not see the big deal, because the handholds were man made and the base had shredded tires.  So as I started up, my kid was watching, so the crowd started yelling which handhold. I figured my kid would not be shy about it once I was done.  I kept going up and with each handhold, the crowd was shouting more, so the next thing I knew I was at the ledge and the guys yelled "pull up!" so I did a pull up and they went more over the top.  When I dismounted, the drop was not that bad, BUT THE DAMN SHREDDED TIRES HAD A BIG DIVIT right where I landed and caught me more than "foot deep" so instead of a flat footed drop, my left fibia and tibia took (at least half) of my 180 pounds.  Snap.  The whole crowd heard it and the guys cheering me on ran for the hills! I really am taking something away from this one.  There was no reason for me to do that.  I was showing off.  There was no need to take the risk, and frankly, I am glad my kid did not break his foot.

I did want someone to feel sorry for me so I came here with the picture! Thanks all.

Tom

Hey Tom, don't feel bad, ... this sounds exactly like something I'd have done ... my ego gets me in trouble sometimes too ...
But man, I haven't had to pay the price your paying for it ... 'Luckily' ...

I can't look at your foot and ankle for long ... it makes me queasy ... it looks soooo damn painful ... unh ...
