Today, someone mentioned the three Ps of recovery. Two of them are paranoia and paralysis. Anyone know the third? Anyone know where there might be readings on the topic?
This was a conversation related to how fear plays out in sobriety. In one person's case, she puts off making decisions. In my case, I make decisions then don't do anything to put that decision into action. In some else's case, she's looking for a professional job for the first time and is often plagued with negative what-if thoughts.
Ring any bells? I've been sober 10 months, and my not following through on decisions isn't because they aren't good ones. They're basic, like get a job, or start exercising, or try a different meeting, or start reading recovery stuff x amount per day. This procrastination is of course a carry over from active alcoholism. It seems so simple: Just do it.
Welcome to the MIP board. Yes, procrastination is a issue many of us have to deal with.
Best thing that works for me is 3d step, get out of self and into carry out God, and try to his vision. If I can clear my head and get rid of the fears, objections and other BS, I get a lot more done.

Hi, I heard this yesterday on an excellent audio book
It is Perfection, Procrastination and Paralysis.
The principal is that is we try and work a perfect program this will obviously fail and we fall into procrastination and then as it progresses, paralysis.
