Hey all:) I've noticed that there hasn't been all that much activity on the site over past couple of days... I COULD post some silly thing about buying a vacuum lol, but I'd rather hear about what's going on with everyone else.. Old timers and newbies alike:)
Busy, busy, busy and then some busy again. I've just worked 20 odd days straight and get a day off tomorrow (yay!). Of course I'm going to use that day off to do a 600 odd km round trip to pick up my kids and spend a little over a week with them over the school holidays. Right after that I'm off doing an intense 6 week civil construction course which will give me a bunch of heavy machinery tickets and will lead me onto (God willing) a more important job and much better pay.
Not bad for a bloke that 2 years ago was chronically unemployable, lazy, selfish, irresponsible and couldn't be trusted to operate a lawn mower safely.
And they keep telling me things will get even better. I believe 'em too.
So right now I'm tired but happy, comfortable but busy, satisfied but ambitious and very perplexed to know just where I used to find the time to drink.
Hey Col, ... ... ... Did you check out CR (Consumer Reports) prior to buying a vacuum ??? ... I always check them for a 'non-biased' report on products and appliances before purchase ... especially the efficiency ratings and the reliability product comparisons (repair history's ...) ...
Vacuums are a great subject ... ... ... 'Cause I used to live in one ... LOL

Pappy, you sound like my dad LOL!! He gives me his concumer reports password everytime I have to purchase anything from washing machine to tv to bow dryer. He swears by it and I will admit I find it useful (I just don't admit that to my dad) ha ha ha!!!
Lol!! No, I did not consult consumer reports.. I just walked right into Target and got the one on sale( but it was a reputable brand and 'bag less').. I really wanted the cool looking 600$ one, but I restrained myself and got the more sensible choice.. Kinda like 'sensible shoes' hahaha.
Oh no Col., ... ... ... I hope you didn't get sucked into a bad deal ... LOL ... guess I'll keep quiet on what CR sez about 'bag less' vacuums ...
and yes Alias, I'm probably old enough to be your dad so we may sound alike at times ... LOL ... NOW, go clean up your room girl ... and fix me sump'in to eat ...

Awe Col - there is an excellent deal going on amazon wharehouse right now for an automatic rewind vac. I LOVEEEE not having to wind up the cord!
We spent the day the Como Zoo near Minneapolis - I think it's actually in Saint Paul MN. They had botanical gardens, a huge variety of animals, and a lovely "jungle" that we had so much fun finding little critters in. I would highly highly recommend this zoo to anyone who may have a layover at the airport - or even as just a really fun destination this time of year with the leaves changing!
Yesterday, I was convinced by my sponsor, and the GSR at my home group, to take on a sponsee. She is a mother, and we spent the afternoon together talking over dinner, and then saw the movie Bill W. It was a fun night. I'm pretty nervous, but I know I'll be able to do it with all the help here at MIP - my sponsor - and my HP. I must admit, I had butterfly's in my stomach today while she was squealing with excitement as we made it official over the phone.
We'll be heading to Copper Falls, WI next week - and I'm really looking forward to that. Busy busy - living life on life's terms, and trying to do the next right thing : )
I agree with you about the board seeming a little quiet, but I've seen it happen a few times before. It has always bounced back : )

600 dollars for a vacuum? Where have I been? I do like the sensible shoes idea by the way. Twenty bucks will go a long way at Walmart if you get my drift. Did I just say twenty bucks? Obviously, I don't shop to often -if you can't tell. Well, it's my wife's responsibility anyway. No, I'm not a male chauvinist either, okay. At least I hope not. I have to consult my wife on that one. Unfortunately, she's not talking to me right now. I forgot our anniversary, again. Well, one thing is sure; I'm still a guy...LOL
