My daughter turns 30 today and I am grateful to God, for granting me sobriety when she was in grade1. I would have damaged her very badly if I had continued drinking. Besides the physical damage we inflict on our families, the emotional damage is far greater. My dad's alcoholism damaged my schooling and my career, and worse still, I also turned to the same  bottle.

If you are a newcomer here, do not wait any longer. Get onto the 12 step recovery program now.

Alcoholism is a progressive illness. It damaged my relationship with everybody around me, and the 12 steps, little by little have restored many of those relationships over the years of practice.

Thank you Gonee.  How true.  Alcoholism is a family diesase.  It's affects all who come in contact with it.  Like you mentioned, the good thing is; recovery can affect all those who come into contact with it also.  We can carry the message to all those we come into contact with by working The 12 Steps and our HP(God).  smile

Totally grateful for getting into sobriety before my son started school! I'll have 3 years on the 17th and my son started kindergarden a few weeks ago. I was able to walk him to school his first day, attend open house, buy supplies for his class, and help him collect money for his Walk-a-thon coming up. He's raised over $300 and after raising $150 he'll have a chance coming up to take a Limo Ride to McDonalds. All these wonderful experiences brought to me by AA and the God of my understanding!
