Dreams... leave me alone!

I didn't want to continue adding negativity to the positive "Vibrant Dreams" thread... so this one is for the other side of that spectrum.

Last night I dreamed that me and my ex were back together and going on a trip. She told me to grab a beer from the fridge for her and for me for the trip.

Sidetrack moment... I don't and never have drank beer. The smell is disgusting to me and it's alcohol content is so low compared to the 80 proof 40% alcohol content vodka content I've usually bought. Vodka tastes vile too but it's been more bang for my buck (I'm having to control myself and make an effort write these words in past tense to get it through to my head that I don't drink any more!!)

Back to the dream: My immediate thought was  "but this is so weak compared to the vodka I have... oh ah well... it's alcohol" and went ahead and grabbed the 2 cans.

This shows me that my drinking WOULD escalate to the point that I would drink any old thing just for the alcohol if I let my alcoholism continue.

Also... thank GOD I didn't actually drink in the dream... that would have made me want it so bad when I woke up. Surprisingly (despite that dream) I didn't wake up with any desire to drink.

Don't give DREAMS any more significance than they deserve ... They are only thoughts ... as long as you don't act on them, you're okay ...

very insightful - about the progression - drinking any old thing - that's exactly what happened to me - and you don't ever have to go through that hell : )
