Hi, I'm Kevbo, I'm an Alcoholic. Anyone in Albany,NY area?

A first post, so I should tell a little about me to say hello:   I was sober for 3 years, then had a 17 year second drinking career.  I had my second 30day birthday a week or so back.  I'm pretty intent on doing it right this time.  I am averaging well over one meeting per day, and have only missed a couple of days due to traveling.  Weekends were my prime time to drink, so I tend to hit at least two meetings a day on Saturdays and Sundays.

I am requesting  help making it to a meeting or two in the Albany, NY area the later part of this week. 7/26/2012  to 7/29/2012.

I will be traveling there for work over the next few days, and will not have the use of a car to make meetings.  I will be working/staying in Malta, NY, and there is only one weekly meeting  (on Sunday) listed on the intertubes for that town.

If there is anyone in the area that would be willing to pick me up in Malta and take me to 1 or two evening meetings in the area I would be very grateful.  I have no familiarity with the area, so don't have any idea what meeting exactly. Non-smoking would be nice, I'm male, and have never been a drug user.  I will be working on a site that runs multiple shifts, so I may have to cancle on you if work demands it. Sorry in advance if that happens, but making waves at work is worse for my sobriety than missing a meeting.

I phoned the AA office in Albany with this request, and gave them my contact info, but have heard nothing.  Please post here or PM if you can help, or phone the Albany office, they have my contact info.  I am reluctant to post my contact info for any search engine to find, but give the mods permission to release that info to somebody that says they can help.

Thanks for the kind words Pythonpappy, glad to know this mic works.

I wasn't clear: I am only 30+ days sober. My first 30 day AA-B'day was about 20 years ago.

Welcome Kevin!  I'm a few states away, but glad you reached out for help.  Did you try the Albany area AA intergroup # (518) 463-0906?

Welcome to "MIP". I'm from Dutchess County N.Y. which is about 50-70 miles south of Albany. So I'm a bit further out than most. I do hope you'll find a local connection soon. You can always search the Albany area region for help. Here's their link:

Welcome to N.Y. though.

Hi Kevin,

Welcome to the MIP board. I hope someone calls you from intergroup in Albany, I remember a few people in this forum from NY, but not sure what part.

It is always good to chime in here with a topic or post to keep your head in the right place if God forbid, you can't get to a meeting.

I was able to take in a few meetings in the area around Albany. Made a friend and went to a sober BBQ. I went to the track (Saratoga) on Saturday. I'm sure there was another fellow there also not drinking beer, but I didn't see him. I bet on a horse so fast they needed four other horses to out run him!
