Hey Pappy, is making mountains out of mole hills like pole vaulting over mouse turds? I'm an expert at that. I'm told it looks pretty stupid when I do it.

My kids (and husband) love the game angry birds.  Essentially, you just fling this bird at a big pile of stuff, and try to knock it over with different sorts of birds, that can do different things.  The pile gets harder and harder to knock over.

Somehow, I have been transformed into an angry bird this week.  I'm at level 999999, and I can do some pretty amazing tricks - I have my angles down pat, my strategies figured out - and yet, I can not figure out how to knock down the pile.  I try over and over, in many many various ways... but alas... I realize I am powerless.  My own best efforts will never be enough.  I need to accept that I will never make it to another level without help.

Finally I admit I am defeated, and when I surrendar, fall to my knee's and pray for help from a power greater than myself... I look up to see I have moved to the final level.

Excited to finally conquer the game, I am shocked to find that there is no pile!!!

?????

Slowly I realize, I had wings to fly all along.

My life does not need to be a struggle anymore.  I am free to just fly right over top of any "piles of stuff" I come across on my journey.

And never look back.

Amazing the amount of symbolism we find... Isn't it?

To me, ... ... this reminds me that I used to make mountains out of mole hills ... if it wasn't that big a problem to start with, then by the time I got through with it, it was a big deal ... and Tasha is right, if I stop holding on to those things that aren't a big deal, then I can let go and see that I can indeed fly over them ... meaning It was me holding me on to the ground all the time, never knowing I could fly ... til I let go ...

Great stuff,
Pappy

Hey billyjack, ... YOU KNOW it is ... ... LOL ... ... ... AND I TOO am an expert at that as well ... and as far as the stupidity goes, I found that I had an allergy to alcohol, every time I drank, i always broke-out in 'handcuffs' ... ... (borrowed that from a guy in our group here) ...

Pappy

What a great analogy Tasha. It reminds me of this quote I know so well: "serenity is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it". Obviously, you understand that formula quite well. Happy flying Tasha, thanks...

P.S. What the heck is "angry birds" anyway? Is it a board game or something?

I'm not talking about holding onto things that aren't a big deal. I'm talking about having the freedom to use my wings when things ARE a big deal. I'm no longer bound to things that I do not deserve to deal with anyway... that are a waste of my energies and time. I can rise above things, because I believe in a power greater than myself, who will guide my life in the direction it will take. When people show disrespect to me, I do not just feel like "oh well, I deserve it anyway" or "I guess that makes us even for all the drinking I did" oh no no no no... not any longer. Also - I don't cling to anyone or anything, thinking I'll never be able to take care of myself, and just let them control me like I am in a sling shot. I believe in God now, and I believe in myself now. That's all I need. I will take that with me where ever I go.

That's so true Tasha. You keep doing what you're doing, because it works dear. So work it...

David, just a warning - it's pretty addicting! Seems dumb at first, but it's sweeping the nation for a reason! I didn't want to give in to it either, cuz it seemed so dumb, but my kids (5 & 3) play it, and begged me to try... after a couple days... I too had to admit I had a problem ; )

Wow, Tasha, this game is addicting. I need to limit my time, though. I won't get anything done if I don't. But thanks.

Yes, I just completely stopped playing it after a couple days - it was like taking that first drink, no telling when I'd stop after I started ; )
