Welcome John. I too have been running to aid in my recovery. I have been running for 5 1/2 years and in the program for 4 1/2 years. I find they go hand in hand. I run half marathons. They help me figure out life in general. I have the rest of my life to follow the road recovery and the rest of my life to run and work towards PR's. Although just learning to run smart is huge. Keep in the solution!! :)

Running (or any other kind of aerobic exercise) is very important to recovery, especially in the beginning. Its' the number 1 treatment for depression (non clinical) and it causes the body to release endorphins and serotonin. Which produces a feeling of well being and other great benefits.

Welcome Jon, ... glad you're here

At my age, I just do a brisk walk everyday now ... about 2 1/2 miles or so ... 40 minutes cardio I guess you would say ... today was day ...uh ... let me think ... ... day 26, my first 'rain delay', but I got it done ... now I'm trying to do this and 'nap' at the same time ... LOL

Welcome again and God Bless,
Pappy

Thanks Dean, ... ... ... It really took a lot out of my dog too when we started ... But now she looks more forward to it than I do ... Ha! ... She hardly lets me finish my morning coffee before she's bugging me to go ... and won't let up til we're on our way ... Then SHE SLEEPS the rest of the day ... LOL ... well, sometimes I do too ... We do good though keeping each other sober ...

Pappy

Hi Jon,

Welcome to the MIP board. I have also been working out/ running consistantly since I've been sober. Keep on the path, program/steps, sponsor, Higher power, and service.

Take Care,

Rob

I know it is a good treatment for depression and I would suggest it, sorry but I didn't mean to make the topic centered around that. I really want more to keep an I.ventory on my thoughts and my days and watch myself get through this difficult time. Now that the drinking has stopped the difficulties of it have to be dealt with. I should have a new video up shortly
