well, for me i had to get to meetings and meetings and meetings. i could not stop on my own either.

and didnt think the meetings would help me but i still went. and learned to really open my ears up. and be willing to give this program a fair chance.it really does work!!!!there no way i could of done it alone and u probably will not be able to do it alone either.  so get to meetings and get a sponcer and give this a honest and fair shot. you will be glad u did . may god bless u and good luck on your path to soberity!!! wagon

Alcoholism IS a disease and you have to treat it like one. If you had a broken arm, what would you do? Get medical attention, right! With booze the "medicine" comes in the form of AA meetings, reading the Big Book of AA, getting a sponsor, working the steps,  etc., ONE 24 hours at the time.

"God, grant me the gift of sobriety today"

Love and hugs,

Doll

It's not all in your head...it's not a matter of "willpower". If it was, we wouldn't be here. Asking for help is the hardest thing in the world to do, but the single most important thing we can do for ourselves.

Prayer helps. The most sincere prayer I ever spoke was when I looked up and said " I can't do this alone, God. I need some help." And I ended up in the rooms of AA.

You don't have to do this alone.

Love, cheri

wow!  I really hear your frustration!  and your anger at yourself!  Sounds like the beginning of Step 1 "We admitted that we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable" .  I'm glad you found us, and I hope you find a face2face meeting to go to. We just put Step 1 up on the Step Work board. Check it out.

There is hope, friend, and help.
