The St. Francis Prayer.

My sister killed herself, she took her own life. She had a 12 step program in her life but was unable to grasp it tight, as I do today.

She asked that this be sung and read out when they layed her to rest.

Today I live with her in my heart and she walks beside me with my God every step of my every day. She is at peace today and so am I.

God bless and keep you all well in your recovery :}

Prayer of St. Francis Assisi

Lord, Make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
Where there is discord, harmony.
Where there is error, truth.
Where there is wrong, the spirit of forgiveness.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand.
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Thy will not mine..

God, I offer myself to Thee To build with me & to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.  Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy love & Thy way of life.
May I do Thy will always..

Mike.

Thanks for your thoughts. Just wanted to add that it was not today. It was a few years back now.

I still have the moments but I am truly grateful to have my AA program of love and support.

My higher power and my new found friends.

Prayer means so very much to me today. At one time in my life I did not know how, I just wanted to share the St Francis prayer and say why is means so very much to me :}

And I always remember its my Gods will today not mine. :}

Bless you Mike.

Thanks for sharing that experience Polly ...

There are many good prayers we learn when we come to work the program of recovery, but this one is perhaps the very 'key' to living the 'peace and serenity' the program speaks of ... I don't know about others, but I feel this an extension to the 'Lord's Prayer' ... or rather, an expansion ... I don't know, it's just a very good 'mind focusing' prayer ... and at the end I love the "It is in dying that we are born to eternal life." ... Thank God that we are properly preparing for the eternal life to come by actively working this program ... ... ... ... ...

"THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT"

God Bless,
Pappy
